Default Cleaning Headlight Problem

I was doing the "Whistler Mod" so I decided to clean my lenses while they were off. I did some light sanding with a 1200grit then noticed I would need to use a more coarse grit to remove some paint I found on the lense.

I did a light sanding with 400grit. Then sanded it again with 1200grit. I've applied quite a bit of polish but the lense is still very foggy.

What do I do?

400grit to 1200grit is a huge jump. also, you're going to want to use 2000grit last, then plastic polish.

I would actually finish with 3000 grit to make your life easier in polishing it back. You are WET sanding, right?

I think that's the problem. I'm going to go back over it with 400, then 800, then 1200, then finish it off with 2000.

Yes, I was wet sanding.

Thanks kingc8r for putting my thread lol. This is what I meant about everyone having trouble with this.

You shouldnt need to use so many different grits, just get down to the new plastic, finish with 2000 or 3000, and your going to need a GOOD polish like the ones I recommended in my thread that KingC8r provided. Need anything else just ask me or Arctic, he seems to know what he's talking about to

I had to use 400 to remove some paint. I then skipped to 1200. The 1200grit wasn't able to remove the scratches from the 400 grit so my headlights remained hazy.

I got some 800grit, then used some 1200grit and polished it up - looks great now.

You made a great write up, no need for it to go to waste. Besides these questions keep popping up. Better to get them an answer quickly.

Once again thanks for the great write up
