Default What 1.6 rockers?

Hey iam looking at putting 1.6 rockers on my right now stock internal lt1. These really help on a stock internal motor? what could i expect from them over stock?

What brand would you suggest?

also i heard i need NSA rockers, that true?

would i need new pushrods or anything else besides the rockers?

thanks a bunch!

Either the Crane Golds, Pro Mags or even the CC HighTech are all excellent choices.
You may see a few tenths off your ET.

I have some used Crane 1.6 gold race rockers (SA) with new Crane rocker nuts with polylocks. $260 plus shipping.

Alright, thanks for all the suggestions, but will i need new pushrods or anything else while replacing the RR's? is it a good idea to get new rocker studs?

I agree with this! By far the best bang for the buck. Easy to set, quiet, and reliable.

Ive ran GMPP 1.6's SA and Comp Cam Pro mag NSA's with out issue. If your running an aggressive cam, with alot of RPM, go NSA pro mags, but essentially they all work fine. If I were run a LTX motor again, a cheap set of Pro Mags would be my cup o' tea!

Running 1.6's on your otherwise stock car basically is like getting more lift from the cam. You might see 10rwhp. I'd say you'll see a tenth or so. I run magnums in my 383. If I was you and you were doing the rockers, you may as well go ahead and replace anything you can 'easily" while your in there. Pushrods cant hurt, studs wouldnt be bad.

I have the Comp Cams Pro Magnum self-aligning rockers. A full roller rocker, and very nicely made. I got the chromoly pushrods while I was at it, and ARP studs.

The above rockers will all work as mentioned by some good people. We have had really good luck with Crower 73641-16.

Well, it is not a need, more of a want. I used stock length (7.20") chromoly. They will lessen flex in the system. If you do change, certainly go hardened or chromoly.

If you go with nsa rockers you will need guide plates and hardened pushrods for the guide plates. I dont see any problem with running stock length push rods if you are not changing out your cam.

I would recommend a spring change if doing 1.6's. If you are staying with the stock cam go to 1.7's. I ran Promags for 4 years, good rocker. Switched to Scorpion 1.7's netted 10 rwhp over the 1.6 Promag and are less noisey.

With 1.7's you'll probably need new valve covers, or at least clearence the old ones. At least we had to my buddy's bird.

I recently installed Comp pro mag #1305 nsa 1.6 rockers/guideplates/7/16" rockerstuds. Had problems with the Crane gold race self aligning ones in the higher rpms. So far no issues.
