I installed my mac mids, but the header hits on the streeing shaft.The number 3 exhaust port pipe just barely.What can I do about this cuz it makes it a hard to steer.

I've read that alot of ppl grind a little off of the steering knuckle to get it to clear it better, but let others chime in I havn't had this problem yet..

Let it clearence it self, OR take it off, get some pipe and a hammer and clearence it. Btw I hate mids.....

Kind of a bad idea that probably will not work. Find out which part of the shaft is making contact and clearance the shaft and/or primary as necessary. Be careful and use common sense with what you do to the steering shaft.

i agree be very careful and like they always say measure twice cut once, if you take too much off and make it unstable then it might snap and thats your steering shaft thats nothing to be messing around with.

BTW i hate headers!

I had the same problem then I changed the motor mounts and the problem went away

my mac's went in real sweet. you could always take the header off. heat it up and hit it with a rubber mallet where its hitting and grind abit off the steering knuckle.

I don't know how our steering setup is, but assuming there's a ujoint inside, you could always remove everything from the firewall and oblong the holes out just a tad. You'll obviously want to make sure you tighten down your bolts with an impact after, so it doesn't slide any. That'll keep you from having to grind down your steering shaft or denting your new headers.

You could also just need new engine mounts. Even if that doesn't fit it, it probably wouldn't be a bad thing to do anyways

How about loosening the steering column bolts and sliding it over a bit. That would be the first thing I tried.

Also just to point out again, that Every header shorties,mids or LTs, has issues regaurdless of brand.

As DaveJ said, new motor solved his problem. I think most people have solved this problem by doing that.

Relocating? No. But doing exactly what this guy said, yes. Only I suggested oblonging the holes a bit so it would slide more, if simply loosening them wouldn't cut it.

That's what I thought. Those 3 8mm bolts that hold it in place at the firewall would hold up real well to an impact wrench

Yep, because they only make high torque impacts. No such thing as a 1/4" impact. So to you as well The more you try to make me look stupid, the worse you come across in my eyes. And your trolling is getting kind of old too.
