Default Buying HP Tuners, what's the cheapest laptop I could get to run it?

My buddy is selling me his HP tuners professional program with an LM1 wideband for $325, but I need a laptop to run it. Not sure what the OS requirements are for it, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. $200 at most should get me something usable. What should I look for?

I've run it on stuff as crusty as a 380MHz Too-cheapa
(Toshiba) but I'd say you want 500MHz or more and a
good chunk of RAM. There are recommendations on the
web page. I'd stay with a pretty lean Win2K or WinXP
setup, no crap like RealPlayer etc. resident and so on.
XP may have better support for USB stuff. Vista is the
devil.

Hmmm, that is a pretty good deal. I'll have to go check that out. Might be better than buying a used one with an unknown life span.

Yeah, my last two laptops were a "cheapest I could find" type of a deal, since in both instances they were well above the minimum spec.

I got an EeePC from Asus for $479. Tiny laptop (10 inches wide), great for using in the car ... HP tuners runs great!

Latops are definitely getting cheaper as far as bang for your buck goes! To the OP, anything you buy in the store is going to have more than enough power to run HP Tuners but it might be hard to find a new one loaded with XP. Vista works great for me, you just have to turn off all the extra BS programs that are running by default!

Yup, definitely try to find a laptop with at least 2gb of ram if you plan on sticking with vista. I run it on both of my laptops and although it has its quirks it works just fine.

Wal-Mart sells cheap laptops that would work for you. I got one for $340 with 2GB of RAM, DVD/CD-RW, wireless and all that good stuff. Its small and easy to have in the car for on the fly tuning. Its a Acer Aspire 3680.

EDIT:
Here are a few I found:

The only thing that sucks about those cheap laptops from walmart and others are the battery life. They are VERY subpar and dont last for nothing..
