Default !WIRE mod finished (pics)

I finally got around to doing the !wire mod today. I gotta say this mod is a PITA but free and worth it! The hardest part was cutting the hole and trying to get it the right shape. The wires just were long enough not to have to do any cutting. Good thing because who knows what I would have screwed up if I had to cut the PCM wires! Makes the engine bay look alot cleaner. I've also taken out the whole AIR system and the EGR valve and bracket. And moved the ground wires.
Before.....

hole...

After.........

P.S. Im watting for the other FRC cover to come in still. hopefully tomorrow.

The EGR removal took like 15 min max, what did you have trouble with? My bigiest problem was cutting the hole. I didnt go buy a one inch whole saw bit like every one said to do insted I used this burrowing bit I had here that I thought would work. Big mistake!! The steal ate the bit up real qiuck and left me drilling holes. So my advice is dont be a cheap a$$ like me and go buy a howe saw bit.

Looks good!

I removed my AIR system also, just gotta find time to do the wire mod.

I am kinda confused on where you cut the other hole? I know you cut the one at the top and route it through the wheel well but where does it go from there?

did you say you were able to do this without cutting the plugs off or lengthen the wires? please enlighten!

I believe you only cut one hole. There is a big gap on the other side of the wheel well so you don't have to cut another hole!

Yup. The trick is the hole. it need sto be as close to the hood strut bracket as possible. And it needs to be made in more of an oval shape so you can get the plugs through. Just be carefull that you dont cut any of the wires comming out at the top of the plug on the meatal edge of the hole as your working them trough.

And yes there is a hole at the front the wires come out through.

I'm talking about removing my entire EGR system. I had a problem creating block off plates for the exhuast where it hooked into the EGR.. not to mention the rag that got sucked into my intake when making sure there were no leaks. EEK ! but i got it out thank god.

Has anyone had any issues, after drilling the holes on both sides, with any negative structural effects on the shock towers? You know, like when taking corners hard and stuff? No sense in me doing this if it's gonna weaken the shock towers significantly.
