non self-aligning 1.6 rockers Just a quick question for you guys. Im installing 1.6 non self aligning roller rockers. I put new comp cam springs on and retainers. The pushrods are stock. Motor has 140k on it. Now when putting these on with the guide plates will they clear stock valve covers? im thinking not because they barely clear right now after straightening the posts out some.
-where could i get valve covers to clear them that aren't crazy expensive? Also, down the road ill be installing my CC503 cam so im deffinetly going to be changing lifters and pushrods. I just wana get these on for now to see the gains.

How about the obvious guys. You can not use stock pushrods with guide plates. They have to hardened. The rubbing will will wear through the pushrod and produce lots of glitter in your engine.

i did search this subject a lot and didn't come up with anything to answer my questions. ive seen a lot of people saying you need hardened pushrods. thanks for the link on cutting the supports on the valve covers. i was thinking bout doing something like that.

definetly buying new pushrods no worries there. was hoping this woulda been a quick couple horsepower but didn't realize they weren't self-aligning ha. well should be all done tuesday or something. just gott wait on the parts. one the cam and everything is done i'll post up a dyno sheet to see the gains. hoping for over 350 at the wheels

Yes i have looked into the lt4 knock module also. Seems like a good way to keep the computer from retarding timing at especially at higher rpm

hm i might have to invest in an lt4 knock module sooner than expected. everywhere i read i just hear good things so it definetly can't kill. it does seem that my car should be making more power than it does at the higher rpms. we'll see

anyone know if machining is required to the heads for guideplates? I really don't want to take the heads off so if anyone can answer that question let me know. and if you can tell me where to get the right guideplates thatd be even better

Im going to do the same thing you are. I made a list of things ill be ordering from summit ill post it here.
CC503 (224/230 .503/.510 112 LSA) or a different cam not sure yet.
-NSA Pro-Magnum Rockers 7/16" stud (1:6 ratio)
-Arp (Rocker Arm Stud) 7/16"
-Trick Flow guideplates
-Trickflow 5/16 Hardened Chromemoly Pushrods 7.200"
-Beehive Spring or PAC 1218 springs
-Steel Retainers (LT1 for 918 springs)
-Seats
-10 degree Lock (11/32 super lock)
-New Lifter's

buddy at a machine shop said theres a possibility that the heads will need some machining to get the guideplates to work right. just looking for an answer from someone who already has had NSA rocker put on their car.
Hopefully i wont be selling these for self aligning rockers...
