Default rod bolts,main cap bolts?

when rebuilding is it possible to reuse stock rod cap bolts, main caps?

Sure is, but it depends on what your use for the motor is to some extent.

car is getting a stock build, im gonna do head porting, and maybe a cam and a shot next year

Stock bolts should be fun. I run my up to 6800 on stock hardware.

yea but are they reused?
i know if the bolts are torque to yeild your not suppose too?
but idk bout them?

yes i reused mine spinning it to 7200...no problems after 15k miles...
real thing about keeoing lt1's alove is oil pressure...make sure yours is 10 per thousand rpm...if not run a thicker oil....new sending unit...
i changed my oil every 1500 miles...never had a problem stock bottom end...cc306 shift points at 6900

They are the original bolts, and are not torque to yield. Just tightened em down to the torque spec and moved on.

You can use ARP fasteners if you want to resize the rods, but it's not even worth doing because by the time you are done with that you are more than half way to what a new set of rods costs.

You can use to ARP main bolts too but you might need a line hone.


Just stick with the stock stuff, it is reusable, it is not torque to yield, and it is more than enough for what you are doing.


The only bolts you should replace are the head bolts. Here I would get some ARPs because they are ~$50 and you can reuse them about as many times as you want.

cool. i just bought a used set of pistons and rods.lmao. im doing a cheap build on this car. if it blows it wont cost but about 100 bucks out of my pocket. if it runs awhile then fuc% yea.lol

You would be surprised what kind of used junk can be made into a cheap good running motor, and what you can get away with.
