Default LS4 Physical Dimensions

In a past life I had a B13 Nissan Sentra SE-R. The chassis has its limitations, but I feel still considerably underrated in many respects. Mine made around 300 to the ground with the turbo SR20, but I really enjoyed driving an NA one I had much more.

I had known about the LS4 release, but was caught up in my LM7 swap and didnt read much further. I recently came across someone talking about the F40 6 speed FWD transmission interfacing with the LS4 motors. This got me thinking about maybe trying one in a B13 chassis. They are a dime a dozen in the non SE-R models. I would not have a problem finding a test chassis or maybe even just front half cut for VERY cheap.

I figured a good place to start was just trying to get rough estimates of engine bay and motor size to compare.

Does anyone have the physical dimensions of the LS4 with accessories?

Im sure its a long shot but also case size specs on the F40 would be great.

I can't help you, but what happened to your B13? I had a B15 SE-R for my last car. Ran low 14's and was fun as **** to drive. I miss the car.

I ended up parting out the turbo one and driving around the bone stock 91 SE-R I had for about a year. I then bought the turbo car back and sold the both of them more than two years ago now. With the money I bought a really clean 89 240sx that I just did the LM7 swap in last year.

I really miss both of mine as well. Great cars that never stop being fun to drive.

The chassis only had 75K when I got it as a roller in 2002.

I have been doing some more reading on the F40 transmission.

Is a custom starter mount needed to run the Getrag 6 speed (F40) with the LS4 block?

I never really got into the B15s as they came out when I was moving away from that scene. I just remember wanting one of the 2.0 B15 LSD trannsmission BAD and could never find one locally at a decent price.

I have been trying to get ahold of Travis at FIR for the past couple days with no luck. He has done more than a few VQ swaps in the b15 and B14s. I figure if you can stuff one of those in there why wouldnt the LS4 fit. I want to see if he cant confirm some engine bay dimensions for me.

Travis is the man when it comes to the Sentras, but unfortunately he can be hard to get a hold of. I remember when he started putting VQ's into B15's, nasty ****. The first one ran 12.9 @ 105 with just bolt ons.

Edit

Try going to www.myspecv.com

Im sure there is enough depth to the bay. Its really the width between the frame rails that worries me.
