A manufactured product that's proven to work > home made parts most of the time.
I'm not knocking someone who can make a nice, quality part themselves. But I'm with Bama on this one, why not spend a couple bucks and get something that's proven to work and that is manufactured to the specific need?

i guess it makes a difference if you have the access to tools to make parts and what not. im not knockin store baught stuff but when you really think about it a, 300 dollar k&n kit is nothing more than their cone filter, and 4 inch plastic tubing.

Post pics of your set up. I've only seen a couple home made intake kits that actually look worth a damn. I paid $230 for my K&N with no regrets. I couldn't make it myself for a low cost lol

4" plastic tubing with a smooth taper for a MAF housing so that you still get proper flow for a good reading. I'm just saying, I'm willing to spend $200 or more on a well made intake that'll make maybe 10hp rather than spend 100 or 150 building one myself that may make 5hp.

thats off my gtp which is bone stock other than that intake. sure makes that blower sound nice though scares people when you womp the throttle a bit im . i made it when i was workin for a corvette shop in chicago did the trick and was 200 bucks cheaper than a store bought one. and nothing came from autozone or pepboys lol.

Real Home made CAI with air box
Made this myself with sheet aluminum, (not thin flashing) some lexan and a silicon 3.25" elbow. Its insulated and has a lower compartment for the engine and tranny computers. This is the third one I have made. I made one for my 2001 Monte SS, my 2005 GTP also. This one is in my 2007 Monte SS.

The money for the K&N or any other of these is not worth it. Its not the RnD its just the name. Does it give some improvement yes but not at the price.
The fender well intakes are your best bet for performance gains. And a lot chepaer too. and they do have a rep that backs the claims.
I learned my lesson when I had my Camaro and all the intakes they had for those..sometimes the most expensive is not always the best.

i completely agree. fenderwell kits offer the most gain because your going to see the coldest air. i must have paid..180 bucks for the tubing and filter (i got a k&n with the extreme lid) i made it where just a bit hung below the valence on the front end

yea..that is a decent deal..again do not expect the HP claims..been there done that...the fenderwell is the one that gives you that power..these boxed ones just give you a nice looking intake..
post pics of this or the link to the ebay auction..AND make sure it is a K&N..and not some cheap Chinese rip off they are selling you.
