Are you using adapters to run those Cobra rims? I knew they were Ford rims before I even read the line where you labeled them. I didn't think Ford and GM products had the same bolt patterns on their rims. If we do have similar bolt patterns, that opens up a TON of new rims choices.

If you're running adapters, do you have any durability issues related to hubs, brakes, and any suspension parts? I've never really heard anything positive about adapters for wheel bolt patterns.

there is a certian year of mustangs that have close to the same bolt pattern as us. I don't think its right on but close enough to work. I don't think he needed any adapters.

I run 16" Mustang wheels also with 255/50/16 BFG Drag Radials.

They aren't the same bolt pattern. Mustangs is 5x114.3 and our is 5x115. It's generally not a good idea to run different bolt patterns, but it's close enough for some of us to take that risk. I haven't heard of anyone breaking off studs on here, but it had been posted on some other forums.

16 inch steelies and MT ET Street Radials should work nicely and be cheap.

The wheel centers itself up anyway. the bolt holes on wheels are larger than studs as it is.

At least that's how it was explained to me.

Not trying to steal the thread, just to help add decision making information to it...
But how about parts breakage?

I'm just thinking about some steel wheels, they should be a hell of a lot lighter than our wheels. I know mine are heavy as heck. Also the smaller the wheel the better it would be I'd imagine since you get move revolutions out of the smaller wheel. Thanks for examples of tires, very helpful.

it will fit no problem and you are right about the smaller rim being better

A change in the overall diameter in the system (rim+tire) would affect engine RPM, not just the rim size.

Yes, you can find some junk yard wheels off an LS. MT ET Street radials 255/50/16 are slightly wider and shorter. You will be going from a 27.25 tall tire to a 26 which would also effectively shorten your gear ratio. Assuming the tires don't rub or effect your shift points too much, IMO this would be the way to go.
