Engine bay cleaning question
Well tomorrow I'm planning on cleaning my engine bay finally and wanted some tips on what cleaners and or degreasers to use. Besides the air filter what else do I cover up? Thanks

as long as you arent soaking the **** out of it you dont really need to cover up anything (other then your intake since it is wide open)....when you drive in the rain the engine gets just as wet as when you clean it up....i use Adam's all purpose cleaner and dress it with Adam's super VRT and Adams in and out spray....i spray the cleaner and agitate it with a couple different brushes i have....wash it off (not high pressure)....here are some before and afters

as long as you dont spray water directly around the alternator, fuse box or battery, you should be fine
when i used to work at a car wash ( a long long time ago ) we would spray degreaser everywhere in the engine ... let it set for about 20 seconds, start the car, and then spray the thing out with a pressure washer ... then spray plastic/ armor all coating/ tire shine on everything plastic, close the hood and leave the car on to dry itself out while starting other stuff ...
if youre worried about getting water in the alternator, just have the car on while spraying ...
speaking of cleaning out the engine, look at this dirty *** thing ... i really wish i lived somewhere where it didnt snow 5 months out of the year

i typically use simple green. i hose off the engine compartment squirt the simple green on it, let it sit for a couple of mins and then hose off. i ten use a detailer spray and a cloth to clean it all up. this combo makes fast work of grease and seams to be not harful to anything. never had any issues and did it on many cars.
