Default HVAC Mode Door Actuator

Well, I got in the car yesterday morning and I heard the dreaded Tick Tick Tick Tick, of the actuator. Anyone know how to get to it. Pull the glove box out or can you get to it underneath the r/s dash?

I accessed ours by pulling the glove box and dropping the passenger footwell trim panel. The actuator is secured by the small bolts (7 MM, I think), and it's tough to get a ratchet on the back two.

Note that there are two actuators, one on each side of the glove box. With ours, it was easy to tell which side it was on, and in our case, it was the outboard one on the right side of the glove box.

The actuator is about $50 from the dealer, and I believe the same actuator is used throughout the HVAC system, so there isn't a specific one to any location.

As a side note, I took the defective one apart after I removed it. The plastic gears inside were stripped out, and the little motor, which reminded me of one that you'd find in a kids toy, was spinning a broken part of the drive gear against the stripped driven gear. Across the top of the unit, it said "Made in China".

The actuator that controls where the air will flow ie. Defroster, feet. Would take about 5 mins. The one I replaced tonight that controls the fresh air door, total PITA. Took an hour or so, with a lot of bitchin and moaning in the middle.

I feel your pain completely. I had a brand new Titan at work today that had the air mix actuator bad. It's on the heater box by the firewall. The dash is supposed to come out to do it, **** that lol. I squeezed my arm behind the glove box and got it out. My arm looks like hamburger meat right now! Paid 3.4 hours warranty labor, took 50 minutes of PAIN.

Thanks for the vid. Mine's been doing that for a couple of months. Now, how do you replace the wipers?

Idk if this is the right place or not ?
so there is a blend door actuator and a hvac mode door actuator ?
where is the mode door located?
it controls the air flow position right?
i heard they use the same actuator? Is that right?
having problems with the ac or heat stuck on defrost and floor
it changes temp ( gets hot and cold) it’s just stuck on floor and defrost
