Default Installing Doug Thorley Headers

What's up fellas,
I recently purchased a set of Doug Thorley headers for my 2009 impala ss LS4 and started the install today. Everything was going good til I ran into the dam transmission tube that needs to be removed while installing the main Y pipe (from underneath). Was stuck on this for over 2 hours and ended up breaking the rubber piece that goes in the transmission hole where the tube goes into ( lost more tranny fluid in process). My question is does anybody know the best way to get this tube in the transmission with the main Y pipe in place? Having problems connecting Y pipe to back headers with tranny tube installed. I tried several angles and can't get it to go in. Any feed back would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

That just says the transmission dipstick is a bitch and you are on your own, not much help really. I have not done headers, but maybe undoing the top motor mount and rocking the motor forward may help some?

Have someone help you with the tranny dipstick tube. It needs to be installed simultaneously with the downpipe. I've had to do it many times and it's really not that bad with another person there.

My fiancé was helping me and we couldn't get the downpipe on the back headers with the tube barely installed. Took tube in and out so much I broke a rubber piece that goes in the tranny hole where the tube goes and now the tube doesn't stay in the tranny hole tight. I am going to give it another try tomorrow once I get that rubber piece. Thanks for the reply man

I did that to get that number 8 plug out, and that is right next to the dipstick. It may help, sounds like you will be replacing something anyway. Here is the tube and seal from RockAuto. Good luck.

Make it so you can install the bolt then slip the bracket on to the bolt by trimming off the end of the bracket.

I'm a lil confused on how to slip bracket on bolt when bolt goes in from top. Basically you're saying cut the end of the bracket where bolt goes and I should be fine?

You slot the bracket so its a "U" instead of an "O" and use a serrated lock washer to keep it from moving when tight.

O ok so cut the O part where the screw goes down the middle that way it's a half of a O (u shaped), add washer and slide bracket on screw from side then tighten?

I haven't done this, but it sounds right. A picture would help.
