Cool gm847 cam

Views and opinions needed. Good cam?
Does it make good power?
Good with n20?

Planning out my 2010 set up....

Im thinking ported heads,847 cam,bigger converter,full exhaust,racetronix fuel set up,injectors,and a truck load of n20!!

If I don't go 847,I may go cc306. I hear the 306 works great with with n2o. Oh and I may open the rear end up finally, maybe a 4.10.....

well if you're thinking heads, cam, and **** ton of nitrous you might want to be thinking about piston, rods, and crank.

imo better grinds are out there but the gm847/cc306 are still stout performers

Yeah, custom grinds are fun,but off the shelfs can work to.

Im debating on a set of pistons or just staying safe on the n20.

If im gonna build a bottom end and buy pistons etc. I may put this BBC and th400 I have to good use instead.

Yea Dale, had the 847 cam in my car, runs like a raped ape with stock heads. Put on some ported heads and it would really fly.

Im running the 847. Its a good cam...alittle big IMO for stock cubes. It will make power all the way to 7000 rpms. The cam will work well with nitrous. I would imagine your not going to spray anything over a 150 shot on stock bottom end. If you have thought about spraying more then I suggest changing Rod Bolts and going to main cap studs. Im doing that to my motor since I have it out, just for a peice of mind, since im going to be putting a 150 shot to it. If you have anymore questions post em up, and ill try to do my best to answer them. Also nitrous and big stall dont mix. If your going to spray a 150 or higher id stay around the 32-3600 range especially if your going to spray out of the hole.

Ill only spray 150 max.

What kinda gains did u notice with the cam?

I know its a big cam, that's half my concern. What are u reving ur car to with this cam?

Thanks.

I made peak power @ 7000 rpms. I had my shift points set @ 6500. The pcm is limited to 7200. Even on a 150 shot, if the motor is out of the car I would put ARP rod bolts and main cap studs in it just for a peice of mind. Also upgrade the oil pump to a new stock pump or melling m155 w/ the GM white (high pressure) oil pump spring. It makes power and pulls very hard. It will def put a smile on ur face, just realize your going to have to rev high, especially if you have ported heads. Goodluck!

I'd do the CC306 if you wanted to pump some nitrous in there. Either one will make you happy. xxsaint69x really liked his CC306 with nitrous.

on anything under a 200 shot you shouldnt have to worry much about the cam. just keep the LSA 112* and above the cc306 is a fine off the shelf cam, but what makes it a better nitrous cam over the 847? thats what i want to know....

I put down 385 rwhp through a big stall, stock blown up trans (blew rear planetaries day of dyno tune), unported intake, stock injectors, stock throttle body, stock waterpump. Im looking to make around 415-420 rwhp in the new car w/ the same cam and all the above problem taken care of.

Wow,those are impressive numbers.

Now,im not going to go nuts on my heads or intake, just basic porting.

To also be truthful,id rather jet the spray down and leave my fuel system alone! Is my stock fuel system enough for the 847?

Im also looking for the same answers with the cc306 if anyone can help.

I got lucky. My stock injectors supplied enough fuel across the board. That being said, I would invest if you have the money. I just ran out.
