Default Getting k member bolts out

Hey I am having some trouble getting my k-member bolts. Does anybody have any tricks. Plus I have found 4 of the bolts. I am probably blind but I see the bolts in the front and the back. Where are the other 2 bolts?

Put a breaker bar on there and maybe some PB blaster. Those boys are big and tough so I cant see them breaking. An impact would also bust them loose.

If you don't own and impact wrench get one, they are amazing!

Edit: See you already have one, switch to the 1/2" drive and a big breaker bar they might have loctite on them if its been removed b/f.

Which 4 did you find? Their are 2 in the back of the k-member, just find where the k-member ends and look all around.

well I have found the one in the front and the one in the back so I must be blind and missed the other back one. Going to try the 1/2 inch breaker bar and the 1/2 inch impact and try again. Hopefully I will be getting this engine out tomorrow nights. I want the car back running. Nothing like not having your car for 3 months.

3 months, bummer. They are real hard sometimes. Grab ur breaker bar and mabe a jack handle or a pipe. Or a nice 1/2 inch impact! And the last 2 bolts are back further in the back of the k. Follow the first 2 on either side and they are a bit lower to the ground also like the bottom of the car.

got all of those out with my 4 foot jack handle over my 1/2 breaker bar and pulling on it like an oar.

Yup. The 1/2" beaker bar and the 4' jack handle is guaranteed to bust **** loose.

1/2" drive, 6-point 18mm, and a big breaker bar will bust them loose. Just took mine out yesterday. They definitely took some effort - leverage is your friend.

What kind of impact gun do you have? what's the break away torque? The cheap ones you can get for $20 or whatever, or that come in kits don't work at all.

I have a ingersall rand that cost about $175. Has 900# of nut busting torque at 120PSI. Got it at Sears IIRC.

Hopefully you're trying to find the bolts with the wheels OFF. You can easily see all three on each side.

There are 6 bolts that hold the K-member in. 3 on each side. You need an 18mm socket, long 1/2" extention and breaker bar. There should be a hole in the bottom A arm that you will be able to put the socket through to get to that bolt. The others are cake. Then you will need to take the nuts off the top of the shock towers to where the strut tower brace would sit. Goodluck
