Default is my opti gone?

here's what happens. if it rains out during the night, the next day it is very difficult to start the car. it cranks for quite some time before it catches. also, driving through moderate to substantial rain makes the car first start to sputter and bog, then die. after this, it takes several minutes for the car to restart. i don't know of anything this could be other than the opti. your advice is appreciated.

I would replace the wires with some good wires first. People are quick to blame the opti, but I have seen time and time again it was worn or crappy wires.

Im kind of having the same problem but all the time. Every start tends to take some negotiation with the gas pedal to get it to fire and start =/

I would replace the plugs and wires first and see if that fixes your problem, since they are much cheaper than a new opti

I would say its the opti...I got an opti from allignition for 135 with a lifetime warranty and it has ran fine so far...I am sure I will get flamed for not spending 500 on a AC delco though.....

check under the hood in complete darkness and see if there are any small sparks coming from the wires. It'll happen when its moist out so the wires could be the problem. I had the same symptoms when it rained a lot and I changed the wires and the problem mostly stopped. I also had similar issues when my water pump was going out and it leaked on the opti.

Whoever spends $500 on a Delco is retarded. You can get a brand new delco/delphi from thepartsladi on ebay for like $245 for vented and $265 for non-vented.

Agreed! I have bought 3 opti's from them (1 for me and the other 2 for friends).

Waste of $$$ IMO...

A new AC Delco/Delphi after thread locking the rotor screws and applying a little silicone on the outside will get the job done. Had my stock AC Delco last 140k miles (even 40k miles after my water pump went bad and leaked all over the place). New one has been on for 25k miles and works flawlessly!
