Default Low Prime pressure fine idle Pressure

I have a 96 lt1 trans am, and its having an issue where after driving it for a bit and turn it off, it wont start or has a very tough time starting.

So i did a fuel pressure check. Its very odd, the pressure is 19-20 when i prime the fuel pump and 38-40 after the car starts.

Does this mean the fuel pump is starting to go or could this be a clogged filter ?

Thanks.

The filter is easy enough to change and rule out. Replace and re-evaluate. You could have a leaky injector, regulator or check ball problem in the pump.

yeah ill swap in a new filter and see how it goes. I was doing some tests and i found it a little weird too that if i prime it a few times in a row i can get the fp up to about 27 but thats about it. But after letting it sit about an hour it was back down to the 19-20 mark.

Replaced the fuel filter and no change. Its actually priming at about 10-15 psi now. If i prime it multiple times i can get it up to about 27 but thats it. When its started the fuel pressure rises to 38-40. If i let it sit for some time the pressure will slowly go down.

Is there any way for me to test to figure out what is the culprit?

Any other ideas would greatly help.

Thanks.

Yeah, there is a complete testing guide in the "How To's" on my Tech Page.

Check all your grounds, then check your voltage at the relay near the fuel tank.

do you mean the distribution block infront of the rear end?

I found out my relay was bad because when I wiggled it, fuel pressure would jump around. one of the prongs on the relay was burnt pretty bad
