need help on LT1 build
I just bought a 94 Z28 camaro. Bone stock for $2200. Has 140k miles. I am trying to get at least 550whp out of this car. Not really wanting much more because I still want to be able to drive it around on the weekends.
I'm not really sure where to start or what mods I can use to achieve this, money is really no problem so whatever is the best for my ride is what I want. Any help at all would be great.
Thanks,
Drak03

Well, first off, are you wanting you use the long block in the car, or just buy an assembled short block?! Also, are you wanting to achieve this N/A or spray it? The first thing I always do is suspension work.

If you're looking to get to 550RWHP, you will need a serious build.
If you want to achieve this N/A, you'll need the blingest of the bling. Big-ported heads, huge cam, probably a solid roller setup (which is much more maintenance-intensive), etc.
This is easier achieved through nitrous or forced induction. Depending on whether you're more interested in turbo or supercharger, get ahold of RealQuick on LTXTech for your awesome turbo needs, or several sources for supercharger kits. BruteSpeed seems to have the S/C business on here wrapped around their finger.

Well... I would say pick up a good quality stall, but I really can't say what speed since this thread in very inspecific. Maybe a good 3600 or something. Again, I would say start with suspension and a stall. If you are looking to spray, I guess talk to a local machinist and let him know what your goals are. Build a stout 383 with spray... this could go so many ways.

My guess is 280ish rwhp from full bolt ons. I would say listen to these other guys and go with stall and suspension first. That will really improve your ETs along with some drag radials.
I hope you don't think $2000 will get you a near 550 rwhp. For 550 you should look into a 9" rear and a well built trans while your at it.

Lol hell no, I know it won't get me close, I am going to build my suspension first, then go with a stall. Any ideas on what kind of suspension?
Lol I'm 100% sure I could get more than 280 with bolt ons

Get your bottom end built 355, 383, or 396 your choice. Then call up Lloyd Elliott, or Advanced Induction. They should be able to help you get to 400ish rwhp. Then call up Nitrous Outlet and they will get you the rest of the way.

Oh ok. Yea I'm probably gonna get a spare block somewhere so I can get it machined and still be able to drive the camaro, I'm just gonna focus on the suspension for now. If you know anyone that has a stock LT1 block let me know, even better if its already a 383. Then just gonna buy the rest of my internals over time

Yea 140k is a lot. Which is why I decided to build a seperate engine and drop it in when I got it done. Should be done by spring hopefully, I'm gonna have a build thread up whenever I get my spare block
