Default battery draining

my battery just dies! soon as i shut off the car its dead. i took it to discount and it showed it is draining 33 amps even though it is off. this started when i put in the msd digital 6 box. does anyone know what uses around 33 amps?

sometimes you can just put in an inline diode in ( don't know where ?) the older msd's it would stay energized & feed back into the ignition switch & the car wouldn't shut off

if it's not your alt start pulling fuses breakers & relays 1 by 1, just put A test light inline (pull batt. cable off of batt. & put clip on batt. cable & other end on battery post; inline w/ cable off; you can do it w/ pos. or neg & start pulling... your light will go out or dim really low when the drain is stopped ) make sure your interior light (ie door switch) is off or that will keep the test light lit up.

Battery may have a bad cell. Go have autozone put a load tester on it. Alot of times when a cell dies it will still show 12+ volts bit drop drastically when a load is pulled. Check your battery cables as well.

Did it show 5v @ the battery or somewhere else?

could be a bad connection also, put leads on the cables ( poke into cable by battery) & see if it still drops to 5 there when you start it?

He's only using the light to find the circuit that is draining, not to check voltage. It's easier to see from a distance.

Hi,
check battery with a volt meter should read 12 volts. Start engine reading 14-15 volts normal.check leads and clean terminals.....start using a process of elimination to find fault with voltmeter.check battery as stated in aforementioned articles. This is a slow process be patient......have a blessed day.......jim
