How much can an LT1 block handle before it gives out?

Enough to the point that if you need to go further its time to go to a different block

Unfilled, I'm at 650 RWHP. I'd guess that unfilled, they're capable of supporting 800-ish. Filled, over 1,000.

Has anyone ever seen an LT1 block break from too much power? I haven't. They are similar in architecture to an old school sbc, and people have pushed those blocks to 1000hp. Rick Intrau was pushing way over 1000hp in his LT1 block. He ran an 8.08 at 172mph.

rick was pushing big boost through a big cube LTx and as far as I know the only problem he had was lifting a head.

honestly the truth is if you have to ask on an internet forum you probably couldn't afford to break one of these blocks.

I also heard that Rick destroyed his block...

Didn't he crack all the main journals after that run?

hrmm, not sure. The video is from an 8.35 run. He ran it after that to get the 8.08.

If he doesn't know the limits of a factory block, as mentioned earlier, he probably can't afford to get there anyways.

Just like an idiot I ran into today with a supposed 800hp 427 claiming you can't make 800hp with a smallblock, and if you did, it would have no torque..

It would be hilarious if his 427 was a small block.
