Default Almost lost the Bird last night but a new PB

Went up to the track last night made 2 NA passes that went OK but found the new converter is way tight for good NA passes. So I turned on the nitrous and let it rip.
Went from dead hooking and wheels up NA passes to instant spin on spray. I got off the throttle got the car straight back on the gas and it was running like a raped ape. Then about 3/4 the way down I started to spin bad. The track felt like I was on ice and the car was all over the place I mean even into the other lane. Finally got it straightened out and look back to a huge cloud of smoke. Scariest pass of my life I thought I was going into the wall or the car was gonna flip over for sure.
I got to the turn off pulled over & popped the hood and there was coolant all over the engine bay. At first I couldnt find where it was coming from and all my clamps were tight, rad looked goodbut could tell it came frome the front of the engine. Then I found it. There is a smaller pressed in fitting on the passenger side of the water pump that popped out. How something like that happens I have no idea except it was a rebuilt AZ pump that I just used the housing from. POS almost killed me and ruined my car.
So Im going to tap it and screw in a AN fitting to make sure it never happens again.
Good news is the converter loves nitrous and I got a new PB on the worst pass ever. Not nearly what I was hoping for but It def has mid 10s with a 150 shot in it when I get a clean pass.
Heres the slip. Never mind the RT I was testing not racing.
RT .511
60ft. 1.875

1/8th 7.317
MPH 101.82
1000ft 9.407
1/4 11.264
MPH 118.56
Hard to see how bad it was but here is the crappy cell phone vid.

Was that an NA pass posted? 1.875 is not exactly dead hooking...

That was the nitrous pass. I spun instantly and had to completely get off the throttle and back on it. It was going bottom 1.6s NA pulling both wheels.

NA they were 1.630 and 12.0 @ 113.75. This stall is way to tight on motor. It was like a total different animal on spray

The converter might be fine for running n/a but you don't have enough gear to use it properly. Keep the converter and put some 4.56's in back and run it n/a and it will launch really hard. But then it would run out of gear on the spray, probably topping out at the 1000' mark. It's tough to build a car that is strong n/a and on the spray because you have to compromise for either path. The easiest way is with an extra set of wheels/tires. Get some Hoosier QTP's in 26 x11.5 and then a set of 28's or 29's if you cut them to fit.

FWIW my car typically traps 102ish in the 1/8th and runs 10.6's at 128. Your 1/8th mph was right there at 101, so you were on a 10 second pass, not sure what happened there.

Ya It blew coolant all over the track, tires broke loose and I almost died. lol. I wonder what it would have done with a 1.4 60ft on spray and not puked coolant on the top end. If you look close at the vid you can see the car get loose me get out of it then get scary loose on the big end the smoke cloud.

Im not really worried about NA passes anymore I was just testing out the new trans and getting a feel for it b4 turning on the spray. BTE built the converter for spray so I wasnt expecting a killer NA time but was hoping it would be a bit quicker.

Nice recovery bro could have been ugly! It's really hard to have a killer N/A time and killer N2O times with all the same parts, the compromise is $$$$$$

Ya it was very scary **** on the big end.
I knew the car would be a turd on motor when I ordered the converter. So now Im just going to work on getting it right on the bottle. Hoping to get it back out next friday.

Not bad. Get the bugs worked out and your in the 10's easy. Sounds like your getting your suspension dialed in. Much better than last time. Keep at it!

Looking at your aborted nitrous pass timeslip, with a not so good sixty, but at 101 mph in the 1/8 mile, it would have been in the mid 10's@126-127mph or so. Lower sixty would definitely put you low 10's. Fix your wp and hit again next week, you'll get it. Good luck man.

Ya same motor set up thats been in the car for about a yr and a half. Never went as fast as my old cam but with the T56 it went 11.8 @118. The older NA cam went 11.6@119.88
