clutch sugguestions
okay i know there has to be a thread but couldnt find it and aint been on in awhile. Im looking for new clutch. my car has 200,000 but stock replacements cant hold in it. i do beat the hell out of it so its understandable. I also picked up edelbrock performer heads and bigger injectors new in box from a friend for 300 bucks that maybe installed still unsure whether i will or wait till i build another engine for it. but anyways i want sugguestions on a good clutch thats heavier duty then the stock replacements. i dont daily drive car anymore but do drive 4 days a week and as stated beat on it. plus want it to hold up when i add heads and cc306. thanks right now just full bolt on car.

I dont think you will find 1 person on this forum that has something bad to say about competition clutch products, me being one of them. Also there prices are soooo low.

I'd go with the stage 2.5, its only like $30 more than the stage 2 IIRC...been about a year since I bought my stage 2 and I wish I would have spent the extra...otherwise I loved my CCI clutch for the 100 miles I put on it before the motor blew.

Had my pressure plate modified by a local clutch shop and I was running a six puck competition clutch disc. Worked well! This was also with a SLP flywheel. I told the guy I wanted to hold approx. 600rwhp, I was told it would do the job.
I wasn't sure what was wrong recently, but knowing I had to take it all apart I had snagged a Street Twin. So in it went, but it turned out nothing was wrong with my old setup, so the CC discs are nice.(flywheel bolts had come loose!) I had around 35k on mine when I pulled it a couple weeks ago.
Want my old setup? Hit me with your shipped offer price..... SLP flywheel, modified PP, CC disc. I'll throw in the hydraulics also that I replaced not too long ago as the new setup I'm running uses an adjustable setup.

I don't remember exactly, it was built by Tampa Clutch Supply. He increased the spring pressure or clamping pressure? He took the pressure plate from the Hayes street/strip clutch kit I had been using though and modified it, saved me quite a lot of money. It worked well, I only was at 359rwhp/362tq. though. Never slipped, always held. I told him those numbers(550-600rwhp) based on me eventually spraying the car, well I swapped clutch setups before I got around to spraying it.

So they basically resurfaced your pressure plate as well? I was reading and searching on resurfacing the PP but some said you can and some said you can't.I guess your proof that it can be done. I have a centerforce clutch kit but its used and I wanted to resurface the PP and get a CC 4 or 6 puck disc.On Centerforce site they dont recommend resurfacing, however dont really explain why and just want people to spend the coin to buy a full kit.I cant see why it won't work out as long as its not machined alot. I just have to find a good machine shop who will resurface the PP and do a good job.

Staging Lane
I also strongly recommend Competition Clutch, for the price you cant beat it. I bought stage 2 for my bolt-on only car and love it. Opted not for Stage 2.5 because of possible glazing from the kevlar. Only heard good things about them, and they had great customer service with me. Longer break in than expected and a little chatter, but after 500 miles, it was smooth sailing
