OBX Headers (just recieved)
Moment you have all been waiting for...

Got a chance to install the drivers side header. I'm going to wait to install the passenger side one until I get some heat resistant/reflecting tape I want to put on the wiring and AC line down in there.
Anyway the drivers side literally just fell into place no problem whatsoever. It was way harder to remove my old Jethots than install the OBX. I had the bolts out of the motor mounts and the engine jacked up away from the K-member as far as i could. I do have a tubular K-member so your mileage may vary with the stocker.
The only issue so far is that they made their copy of the Kook's alittle too close to the original, the OBX also have the issue the Kook's do with hitting the oil filter. I tried beating the regular filter with a hammer to clearance it and got it so it was not hitting the header (by 1/16" or so) but still didnt like it.

I searched around the internet alittle and found that the PH-454 Delco oil filter will fit our cars and is about an inch shorter than the standard filter. I bought one and was able to install and remove it with the headers in place. I'm happy with the short filter, I think if you wanted to run a normal filter with the edge smashed in alittle bit you would be ok but you would need to take the headers loose at the head and push the collector over an inch or so to change the oil filter.

The steering shaft clearance is amazing, all kinds of room. Note in these pictures I still have the motor mounts loose but I think its sitting pretty close to how it will be with the mounts installed. I was able to get to all the header bolts pretty easily also. I used the 1" ARP 12 point head style. I am waiting on my Br7ef spark plugs to come in next week, so will get info on plug access then.

I may try to install the passenger side tomorrow, if its goes in as easy as the drivers I will put it on temporarily and get some pics.

Is there any chance I can get you to measure the distance from the bottom of the collector straight up to the floor of the car? Even better yet do you know how the OBX header set for ground clearance compared to the jet hots you had?
I've got JetHots right now and can't afford to lose any ground clearance due to my car being lowered. I'm looking really hard at buying a set of these but wouldn't if they were 1/2 inch or more lower than the JetHots.

I'd bet they will be a little closer to the ground due to the 3.5" collector compared to 3" for JetHots and most others...even if they tuck up a little closer to the floor. Then again it's only .25" in each direction.

If they did a good job of cloning Kooks, you'll have to remove your oil cooler, assuming you have one, and run a shorty filter.

They look great in car OP
We must have bought all the OBX places out of stock lol. Super saver accessories dosent list the product on their website anymore, the other retailer OBX lists on their site dosent show them either.

i can also say that these headers LITERALLY fell in place on both sides on my car. i didnt even have to disconnect my motor mounts. my steering shaft clearance is great and there are no rubbing issues at all. BY FAR the best set of headers for these cars for the money. the have the same exact bends as the kooks headers. and they are even stepped from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8. you will not be dissapointed if you get a set of these!
Yeah no OBX dealer in the nation has any LT1 headers. The sales guy at ERZ & EracingZone said itll be minimum 30 to 60 days before any are available
That sucks. If anyones too lazy to install theirs I will buy em LoL
