Layed down the second coat of white this morning. I am going to give I a third coat tomorrow to make sure the whole floor is covered good.
The primer is rust oleum rusty metal primer, as rust oleum flat white paint. My dad had a similar rust problem on his gto back in the 80s. He prepped the floor, used the same primer and rust oleum flat black for the top coat. When he replaced his carpet a few years back there were no signs of rust coming back, so the stuff works pretty good. One of the big magazines recommended it for interior paint, but not for use on exterior since it is oil based. If you buy any, get it at wal mart. It's about $3-4 cheaper per quart than at lowes/home depot.

While waiting for the floor to dry for 24 hours, I decided to start my dashpad repair. I epoxied it back together, then I plan to fiberglass the bottom side completely, cut the vent hole out, wrap it in vinyl and then use some type of mesh for the vent hole. The dashpad was in about 10 pieces before the epoxy job.

Did some more work tonight. I pulled the steering wheel and pedals to begin repairing the crack in the floor.
Once I pulled all of that out, I was able to get a better look at the crack in the engine bay. Come to find out it is right next to where the subframe spotwelds to the sheet metal. And a portion of the subframe ripped a spotweld out, which I am guessing caused the crack.
Here is a couple of pics showing the damage. The circle to the left of the crack is the spotweld that has been ripped out of the floor, and the second picture is showing the underhood damage. You can see on the left side where the subframe is no longer contacting the sheet metal.

Well after talking with my dad, it will be a while before he will have room for my car to be stored and torn apart in his shop. I decided to bite the bullet, weld the crack in the floor up, and finish the work I have already started. However, I do plan on doing a layer of vibration dampener and some good sound deadener under the dash. I figure I will just skip the area the crack is in for now, so I can just peel the carpet back and weld the subframe back up from the engine bay once I pull the motor early next year. No telling how long the subframe has been like that, but I have had the car 7 years now, and over 6 it was a DD. Hopefully it will be fine for another 10 months or so, esp with the added stiffness of the roll bar, and the sfc's I already had on the car.
The welds aren't pretty, but like I said it was done with a crappy flux core welder. The welds will be covered anyway.
Finally back on the ground!!
I also sanded and primed the bracket that holds the steering wheel in place, figured why not while it's out.
Mine and my room mates 97 Z in the garage.

Car is looking real good, keep up the work.
I'm doing almost the same thing with my 94 right now too. I found surface rust on the floor boards, not quite as bad as yours, with the exception of a hole on the passengers side. My rear wheel wells were by FAR the worst places. Once all the rust is fixed, inside is getting painted and covered with sound deadener, underbody is getting undercoated, and I'm doing a ton of cleaning while everything is tore apart. Fresh paint job and it'll look like a brand new car!
