Default What bubble flare tool to get

Ive got ONE break line that's holding my build back. Searched through hell and high water but can't find what bubble flare tool has worked other than the mastercool. Is there a metric and a standard line bubble flare tool? Just can't see myself buying a hydro mastercool kit @$300 for one break line. Any help is appreciated. Or is there some kind of adapter that will go from a single flare to single flare with bubble flare on the end.

You need a Double flare tool to make a brake line? Most auto parts stores borrow them out.

The front factory lines on my 97 are bubble flare. These are the lines coming into my ABS module.

I have a Napa double flare kit. Made by KD tools I think. I used it to make my brake lines going into the abs module a few years ago and haven't had a leak yet. If KD makes a bubble flare tool I would buy it.

I've also used double flares. Never a problem.

Advance free rents the tool. I've found that just about any piece of crap you can buy works fine on regular steel but stainless is a bitch without a good one. I make my crap one work by clamping it in a vise and only cutting stainless with a low speed wheel or fine saw because the tubing cutter will work harden it. Also a drop of oil on the end.

From my experience the ones that are rented are so whored out they'll work, but usually leads to imperfections either in the cut or the flaring. IMO if you're going to get a cheap one, buy it new.

LT1 2buku, I apologize for being a smart ***. I have never heard of a bubble flare and thought your phone was auto selecting words. I guess you can teach a old dog new tricks. A bubble flare must be Metric Skullduggery.

^^^^^^ no problem bud. Thanks for trying to help me out..........I've got a craftsman double flare tool. If I Just double flare the tube and connect it to the abs module it will seal even though the Pre existing tube was a bubble flare? If so that's the best news I've heard ALL week. That'd put me at TNT Friday night. Thanks again for the info.

Do it right or pay someone to do it for you. They are two different sealing surfaces and are not designed to be interchanged. The fittings are different as well. Only an idiot would improperly repair a brake system. I'm sure you can find something cheap on ebay or rent a tool to get the job done correctly.

^^^ yeah I dont really want skimp on the brakes. Thanks. Is there any adaptors that fit two inverted flares together and I could have the other end of a 2 inch line with a bubble flare going into my ABS?

There are flare to bubble flare adapters. O'Reilly has a decent selection in back and some other stores do as well. You'll need the nut for the inverted flare as well. I'd double flare a brake line since a single flare can crack depending on material.
