Default cc503 times

Hey, all. I know this may be a repost, but i have searched high and low for 1/4 mile times for the cc503 cam only. Can anyone tell me what can be had with one of them? Ive heard everything from 11s, which i doubt, to 13.0 which is also ridiculous considering a bolt on lt1 will run that. Thanks guys.

You have read right - somewhere inbetween 11s and 13s.

Seriously, ET depends on so many different things that its impossible to guess what a certain cam will run in a car without knowing its whole combo. Full bolt-ons + 503 will probably be ~12.5 in most full weight street cars. A lightened up car with some more aggressive supporting mods could run 11s, but the high schooler who stabs a 503 in it without even finishing bolt-ons first may very well be stuck in the 13s.

Puck is 100% right, 14s are possible too. Full bolton cars run from low 14s to high 11s, but the typical times for a 503 are high 11s to mid 13s. Depends on supporting mods, tune, and driver. With good valvesprings, good NSA 1.6 rockers, long tubes, cutout, and a tune, powershifting around 6500 you could see very low 12s, little weight reduction into the 11s. Or granny shift around 6000 with shitty supporting mods and be lucky to se 12s.

The 503 cam is a great off the shelf cam no doubt! I have seen quite a few different results with this cam, a few years ago i talked my friend into using the 503 in his 97z with 140k here is the list
Pacesetter Lt
Magnaflow catback
Vig 3600
3.42 gears
1.6 rr, pushrods, gude plates, pac springs, titanium retainers.
52mm throttle body (came with car)
Madtuner tune
Drag radials
His best time was 12.77@103. The DA was 3000' later found out the y-pipe was baging the floor so of course the car was pulling timing.

Another friend had the same bolt ons(3.73s) and ran 12.40 here in Vegas.....

Another, Longtubes, tune, 1.6 kit with springs ONLY ran 13.7 (3.23s)

Now here is the best time of all, same bolt ons car ran 11.86 at sea level (3.73s)

I've seen a couple high 11.9x and several 12.0x. The rest just aren't set up properly or need a driver mod.

Alright, well my car ran a 13.49 with some bolt ons and 3.23s but no longtubes or tune and stock stall.i was planning on doing the 503 swap and put on some long tubes and a stall and of course a tune, i feel like my car runs strong for what it is, but i was hoping for low 12s with the swap and some 3.73 gears

Tracks we go to easily vary 3/10ths, not including Denver, so it's kinfa irrelevant unless you are from the same area.an 11.90 car one place could very easily be a 12.20 or worse somewhere else.

Best I have ran with my cc503 is 12.7@115mph..... Yeah I'm sure you have figured out from that trap speed versus time that my 60' was around a 2.4.......

It is fun at the track in a way cutting shitty 60', around half track making your opponent look like they are standing still.

Prime example of a capable high 11 second car running 12.70.

I'm hoping next time out for better results. Part of my problem is never enough track time, not even close. I will go a few times a year, since moving last year I haven't even been to a track.

The other issue is, even though I went out with fresh 555R's last time, well it was my first time with drag radials. I didn't heat them up nearly enough, not even close. I also went without a pressure gauge that couldn't read below 20 psi. so I dropped the tires to 20 psi. Seems I wanted them closer to 12 psi I have been told.

To fix both I have gotten a digital pressure gauge so I can safely lower the tire pressure and I have installed a line lock. Now I just need to get to the track. Oh I moved to PA though, the car is sitting under a foot of snow at the moment.
