Default HP limit with ARP studs in 2 bolt block

I have a .030 over stock 2 bolt block LT1 with ARP studs. I'm expecting about 390 RWHP which is about 450 at the crank. The car is a M6 with 4.10 gears in the stock 10 bolt with a girdle on it (that and LT4 clutch are weakest links).

I originally intended to install a single fogger spraying about 50-75 hp but now I'm concerned that the bottom just isn't strong enough for the extra power. I'm not wanting the bottom end to explode but I'd like to build a 500hp car just for bragging rights, just not sure how close to the limit I am.

In the end it might be smarter to drop more weight off the car than try to add more power. It should be close to 3000 lbs.

A buddy of mine went 9s on a studded 2 bolt set up.. Ai 200cc, solid roller, 7300 rpm shift. Held up to a 250 hit for a solid year and got parted and is still together 4 years later. . Nothing special In the bottom end .

Well, maybe a 75 shot might not be too much. It's just intended to be a bit of a boost on the top end. That's only 10 hp per cylinder. :/

You don't need anything special for your plans.
Mine is all stock hardware except the ARP bolts in the resized rods. No main studs.
About 660 hp at the crank on the 100 shot.

I dont know any Joe Smoe or any buddy faries with a hi-po 2 bolt but both Smokey Y. and D. Vizard say 500hp is ok and safe limit for 2 bolt small blocks. Smokey says u want the studs to be as tight in the cap holes a possible to reduce cap walk.

hope this helps.

Hope this helps. . I can actually talk about a good friend of mine and prove it. then get made of by an autistic savant out of Las Vegas that probably has down syndrome as well but can sure as hell copy and paste info to disprove everyone on this forum that has gone fast.

A 2 bolt block will do what you are wanting to do as bowtie stated. ..

...... waiting for down syndrome response from cardong saying this is an illusional friend or I'm a Microsoft program that is typing and he can't defeat me

There are lots of people spraying from 100-200 shot on the stock block having zero issues with cap walk.

I made 430 RWHp, and close to 100 track passes on stock caps and arp main bolts. Never had a problem and no cap walk when I tore it down.

I agree with the masses here. It'll take it so long as everything else is done right.

Although you might not pass Cali emissions and you'll need 4" exhaust. Oh wait, you're actually faster than 15's, make that a 5" exhaust.......

Hey Cardo0, I need a 40-200 torque wrench......

I ran an OE 2 bolt block @ 396cid 7krpm limiter and 65-6800 rpm shifts...ARP bolts...on a 200 shot into the mid 9s @ 140+....shortblock was assembled in 2003 and rode hard until 2012 when it was pulled for a freshen....I wouldn't be concerned at all about it holding your current plans

Don't mind the guy posting generalities based on reading books from 3 decades ago.

Stock caps and bolts are fine at 500fwhp, studded 2-bolt fine at 500rwhp.

Last motor I built was a 2 bolt arp studded motor. The guys who did the machine work down here who have been building race motors and racing themselves for like 60 years said it would be just fine to 7k and would easily handle more than 500rwhp. They actually said 700 would be fine too.

I actually haven't seen many motors that were properly put together come apart with proper lubrication and within the proper rpm limits. It does make me wonder what happened to many of the motors that do seem to grenade ever year. :/

Do you need a cell number to talk to him or are you to intelligent to use one of those?

The car was parted do to him buying a 8 Sec turbo car from another member on this forum.

Why do you over analyze everything? Run out of prozac? Or just to smart?

You make more money parting a car out then selling as a whole, but I wouldn't expect you to realize that because you are to smart as seen by your cali emissions legal blistering 15 second car. Btw congrats on that... quite an accomplishment. I don't think anyone on this forum could achieve such great success.

You win cardong

You are smarter then everyone here. It truly shows. Please don't ever leave this forum.
