Default FTI Converter

Anybody use these LT1/TH400 converters from FTI? Looking for a budget converter until I do the Turbo/LS swap.

While not their cheaper line, I am happy with my FTI converter.

I believe bigbadsmokeyLT1 or w/e his SN is on here had issues getting his FTI 'veter right for nitrous in his TH400 though.

I have this same converter in my car 3200 stall lock-up, and i love it my car is a bolt-on car, over the winter i am going with 373 gears. I have never raced the car but after the converter change, it was like a big kick in the pants. Go for it.

Never ran one but FTI makes a good converter, looked to be very reasonably priced also.

What else other than the trans or converter will cause slippage?

Certainly isn't my fresh trans. Converter flashes to 6200 on a 100 shot and i shift at 6500. Lol

Wow, that is a very loose verter for your combo. My old 355 combo on a 150 shot was shifted at 65-6600 and I ran a 9.5 dynamic converter which worked great on the bottle but was a pig on the motor. Would stall to 4400 on the brake N/A and would flash to 5200 on the 150 shot but caught real hard when it stalled.

I was asking as I am running an FTI 889C in my th400 with 3.70's and a 28" tall tire. Car should be running by the end of the month but won't have any track times until Feb-Mar and it will be N/A until the tune is worked out.

Ya there 9 inch would be better. I called them up and told them my combo. They spec'd it and it's off. Had it tightened anddidnt do much. It's to bad i had to spend 1100 bucks on it lol.

I just got off the phone with Dusty Bradford From PTC. getting a 9" .

Im not wanting to bash on fti. They have been Way more then helpful. It just sucks i got a converter that wasn't and hasn't been right. I may call them up and see if they'd be willing toswap it out .

I've seen fresh trans act up before. Only one way to tell is try another converter. Sucks you are having problems though

I'm betting they are willing to work with you.

The trans was rebuilt twice last year. FFirst time was due to a very simple sealing ring in the pump going out. Its acted the same both times so i can say with certainty it's the converter.

I am sure they will help as well

Kyles no dumbie..it's definitely the converter. It works well on motor and flashes way to high with the bottle.

Fti is pretty good. A buddy had a cheapo converter from them in his 5.3 truck and liked it.

Never said or implied that at all. I was simply stating I've seen fresh transmissions act up and people blame the converter. But he's already explained his situation

I agree. My brand new trans lost a cast iron sealing ring and caused it to loose a bunch of pressure.
