I accidentally overtorqued the lower bolt on the opti. Half of it is stuck in engine.

Default I accidentally overtorqued the lower bolt on the opti. Half of it is stuck in engine.

How do I get it out? I have beers ready for this project, just need the tools.

I have a power drill if it'll make things easier. I've never done anything this stupid before and I'm worried

You can get an extractor set from hardware stores and automotive parts stores. Drill out the end a little bit based on extractor size, and then stick the tool in there and turn it out.

The head of the bolt along with some thread snapped. I don't know the exact amount that that's still inside but yeah.

I'll grab an extractor after work. I don't want to deal with a faulty opti :/

I've had more luck with reverse drill bits than extractors. Probably cheaper too.

Extractor or reverse drill bits, id heat up the spot a little and spray penetrating oil at it

+1 on the reverse drill bits. I used them a tiny deep socket as a guide to remove a head bolt that snapped off in the block of my 5.3 burban. I know how you feel as it was my fault, didn't clean the hole n there was water in there.

That's what one of my coworkers suggested. The biggest pain is removing the harmonic balancer

Thanks for the help everyone

Question: Difference between an extractor and a reverse drill bit?

Have you tried removing the timing cover? Chances are that enough of the bolt is sticking out of the block to grab it once the cover is removed.

you can just remove the 3 bolts that hold the damper to the hub. The hub can stay on
