ive been trying to save up for a new improved opti for my car and i figure after christmas ill have enough.. i was wondering if anyone has the accel and is it better spending around 300 for that vs 500 for the msd?

does accel make one for 93-94? and did msd come out with one for those years yet

The really good thing about the MSD opti for a 93-94 is that it's also vented, so you don't have to switch to a 95+ setup to get a vented opti. Not to mention it's a MUCH heavier duty piece. I think there's a special on them right now over at Camaroz28.com in the site sponser section.

What does it take to make a 95+ work? Is it just the connector that's different or what?

so lemme get this straight. The MSD for a '94 is vented? So i dont need to mod anything to run a vented opti on my '94?? Sounds sweet! Spend the xtra cash and go vented.

The Accel dist is more like a stock replacement. I am set up through Mr Gasket Co at wharehouse pricing and sell alot of their products. I would personally go with the MSD brand dist, it is a better built peice.

The front timing cover is different as well as how the dist mounts to the cam.
Other than the vented dist cap, they are about the same.

Well it looks like MSD has a cap and rotor for the GM opti, is that right or is it a replacement for their unit? If so I'm going with the GM opti and then the MSD cap and rotor next time I do plugs and what not.
