LT4 version is different than the LT1 in that its a bit less sensitive due to the LT4 cars having a noisier valvetrain. This was so they would not get any false knock associated with noisier rockers and such.

I'd check the part number I bet the LT4 sensor is the same as the ODBII Sensor... Your buddy who works for gm does he work at a dealer or is he an engineer or something? (trying to establish credentials because if hes more than just a salesman or mechanic and the part numbers ARE different then we may have to take a new line of thinking towards the LT4 KM)

No my buddy is not a sale men he has been working on cars for over 30 years.
I call the parts dep the part# for the LT1 is 16214671 and the LT4 is 16214681. they did not have one for the sensor BUT when I did the one on my car the # on the sensor that came off my car was different from the "LT4 " sensor I got.

Red face

I just did this to my car. You get the LT4 knock module, and the LT1 knock sensor (pn 10456...). The LT4 sensor will not work.
