Today I played with fire...
And I think I finally got burnt. I degreased my engine and gingerly pressure washed it paying close attention to the sensative parts. Well I drove it around for a little while...no problems. Went to WOT on a back road and heard it starting to stuble and a definate decrease in power. I've pressure washed this motor plenty of times before and never had one single issue. I'm just going to let it sit for a while and hopefully it dries out. If not, I guess it's opti time.
On a lighter note, that engine bay sure is clean.

If drying out does not do the trick then you will need an new opti just to run the delteq or LTCC. Amazing what a little thought can make a guy come up with. People are FAR too quick to tell everyone to dump the opti.
Seriously though make an effort to dry it. Sitting wont do much since it can only breath though the vent hole. If it drives at low speeds fine go for a cruise or even let it idle awhile. Idling in particular will mean high underhood temps and high vacuum through the vent harness for maximum drying.

Hook the air compressor (assuming you have good water filters on the hose) up to the vent lines and blow a light amount of air through it. Saves driving.
My buddy douses his Opti in WD40 before he washes his motor. Since, WD40 displaces water and all

Guys...guess what. I'm almost positive it's fine. I drove it around tonight for a while and it seems like it's back to normal. Car has 98k on it and I think the opti has never been replaced. I figured, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Hopefully she stays strong. As far as I know right now, the car is running fine.

I used engine degreaser and sprayed mine down with a hose. I just covered the opti in tin foil. No issues.
Didn't get the engine as clean as I wanted it though, and any tips for actually cleaning the opti? Would a tiny bit of simple green and a rag be fine on the housing?

Good luck with that opti even if you got it to work again. My stock one got wet once and I let it idle until it dried up and smoothed out. Took it out for a drive and worked fine for about 2 more months and it just died in the middle of the road one day. The inside was pretty coroded with rust on the optical disc.
