Default rear gear questions

I was wondering which one should I go with 3.73 or 4.10? And can you reuse your old seal, bearings, etc... (I don't want to pay for new ones if I don't have to)? Also do you need to get programed after you change them?

What he said. I would replace the bearings...especially if your rear end has higher mileage. You don't want to have to tear into it again.

it will be about 20mph off and your odometer will rack up miles faster...

You need to get it tuned otherwise your shift points will be off.

I've got 4.10s on my auto but I also have a 28in tire, so that helps a lot. Stock tires I'd go 3.73, kinda wish I had the 3.73 sometimes

I am more of a fan of setting up the rear to what your running for a combo, like engine, drive train, weight and the type of racings. Gears/Stalls should be geared to the situation or dial in the combo.

BUT it be very general, the M6 due to its very tall 1st gear benefits greatly from a 4.10 and Auto's respond very well to 3.73's. If the car was going to stay perm N/A you can go a step higher (M6 4.30's and A4 4.10's) and really leave the hole good.
