dude, you should have stomped his *** if he was stock. You should have a ghigh 13 second car, stock he is low 15. Those cars arnt very impressive. Are u a4 or m6, have you did maintenance to your car (tune up). what kind of race did you have, give some details

Was the GTP stock though? GTP's can be modded to run in the 13's fairly easy. He might have went up against one that was modded. Just something to think about...

true, ive seen one hit 13.9s with bolt ons, but he didnt say, im assuming he meant stock. I hope its modded cuz losing to a 15 sec car would suck. Btw, nice monte, have you ran the 1/4 yet.

No not yet. The track around here only is open on Saturday during the summer months, and I work on a sprint car, so i never have time to get there.

idk. Lt1 pulls very hard from the line, harder than an ls1, you should have ripped him bad. Id go to work on a tune up. I know when i picked up my latest lt1 car it ran like crap, but not as bad as that. Is there a misfire?

I have less than 500.00 in mods on my 2000 regal gs, wich is the same drivetrain as the gtp. With 3.5 pulley, 3inch down pipe, stock PCM I went 14.09 at 99mph on a 2.2 60ft. Since then I have ported the exhaust manifolds(free 20hp) and gutted the stock airbox(20 more free hp). Then had a full tune done. So with perfect conditions I should see 13.6 at roughly 102mph. Point is gtp are cheap to mod and can run 13's easily. One of the best bang for the buck cars money can by, next to the LT-1.

That LT1 must be running pretty weak if it was a GTP stock. GTP's can run high 14's on a good day but c'mon, your car is not running what it should. First thoughts are tune-up and timing chain.

One time i went out and my car was running like ****. It seriously felt like a 3.8l. I went to autozone and got some seafoam, and 2 days later the beast was back. I dont know what the deal was, but maybe you should give seafoam a try

you definitely should have seen him in your rearviews. maybe a clogged converter. does it run smoothly at idle? if not, check your ignition system. it could be also be fuel related, like a clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump. maybe the TPS is off and not reading as WOT or maybe the MAF is bad and not measuring properly. it could be a combustion problem too. try putting in some 8cyl Restore & valve/injector cleaner, or just get a compression test. have you been putting in less-than 92 octane in? have you noticed any pinging? loss of power could be just about ANYTHING until the symptoms are narrowed down...

We still need to determine if the gtp was stock! I will give alot of LT-1 all they want from a roll to 100 in my regal gs with basic mods.

Here are some stock gtp numbers, not 1999, but 1997 and 2000:
0-60 1/4
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 6.6 14.9 (Car Craft)
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 6.8 15.1
