When the car is cold....

When the car is cold....
For some reason, when the car is cold, the oil pressure gauges goes to like 40-50 and stays there until it warms up then it drops to 10-20 or so. And the other thing it does is that the throttle sticks a little, it likes to hold a 1500-2000 rpm idle when the car is moving (while in neutral) but if i stop it goes down to the usual 1000. does anyone know why these things happen other than the fact its a 10 year old car?

it has a higher idle when cold to warm the motor faster, instead of 1k like usual its up around 1200-1500, nothin to be alarmed about. the oil pressure is due to the same thing. mine does this and im sure everyone elses does to, nothing to worry about
correct me if im wrong guys....

my car does the same thing...cold startup, idles at about 1100 RPMs and runs just over 40 psi, once warm, it idles at about 600-650, and the pressure drops to about 16-20 psi or higher under throttle though...i limit my cold start driving though because I have a remote start, so my car is usually running for about 5-10 minutes before i drive it in the cold...

Looks like its normal, your oil pressure seems kind of low to me but as long as it raises when given accleration you should be fine. Worry about when it won't go up with some throttle.

dont worry about the start-up pressure, i would be a lil more concerned about being as low as 10psi tho.
and while moving it does generally stay about 1500-1700 b/c of the speed sensor and how its programmed, the other guy was an a4 so his idles are different than our m6's. so don't worry about that either.
