Default rebuild underway, few questions

blew the motor on wife's Trans Am. It's a 97 and we are beginning the rebuild. Couple of ideas and questions!

we want to go with a forged 383 stroker. She has a '306' cam but we might get a custom grind instead. her heads have been port and polished but these numbers mean nothing to me, maybe somebody can help...

intake exhaust
.200/115 .200/102
.300/177 .300/128
.400/223 .300/156
.450/240 .450/172
.500/254 .500/178
.525/258 .525/180
.550/261 .550/183
.575/263 .575/183
.600/264 .575/185
CFM CFM

28 inches
180cc intake
68cc exhaust

are these heads good enough for the rebuild with a solid cam? or should we get some from AFR. we would like to see over 400hp. can spend up to 5k. already got a new engine block waiting to get in the machine shop as of right now. finished product needs to be a daily driver but capable of great track times as well. If you need more information than this let me know, this will be my first rebuild and am looking to should be a good learning experience for my wife and I. Thanks guys.

woops i didnt see the second info, well if your trying to get 400 to the wheels, with a 383 stroker and a bigger cam than what u had you shouldnt have a problem. But it might be close you might run out of air. Hopefully someone else can jump in and say.

what's up Ken, yeah she wants it streetable this time. she misses driving it around. Didn't go to the track enough for her to enjoy it. I am in Iraq right now, will be back in April. Your watch is in my Camaro, just swing by my house or call Heather and she can get it to you. How is your ride coming along?

its still down man, i just replaced the opti, now i guess its time to start with the fuel system. When the car warms up i will be driving at a constant speed or accelerating and all of a sudden it feels like i let off the gas, then its fine then does it again over and over again. so i have no clue what it is. Everyone thought it was the opti but that didnt help.

still sounds like the opti...maybe you put a bad opti on? was it used or new, who did the work? check all the wires...I don't think it's fuel, but maybe a pressure regulator or injector is clogging up.

I can't find anybody that knows what those head specs mean!!! I e-mailed them to AFR and nobody has gotten back to me yet.

Those heads will can support 400rwhp and you should be able to do that with the 306 cam. I didn't have any drivability problems with the same cam. If you want to drive it around and are only shooting for 400rwhp there is no need to go with a solid roller. If the 306 cam was in a 350 putting it in a 383 will bring the peak power a little lower too.

alright thanks, we want to shoot for atleast 400rwhp. Wouldn't mind seeing 450. We were thinking of a .590ish lift. If these heads will work, that's great, saves that hassle.
