383 Lt1 CAM god's look here.
I have a 383 Lt1 it has 11.8-1 comp. Stock heads that have been ported. and a CC306 cam. Here is the issue, it dyno's what I think is a really low RWHP.I have had it dynoed in different places and they have all been about the same. 368.9 RWHP but here is the wild part 499.6 RWTQ.I know the cam has to be holding me back because there are alot of stock cube cars making more power than me. I should also mention these pull's were made through an unlocked TH350 and on ET street's. I would think this engine should be making at least 400 RWHP.But not to say the car don't haul ***.My best time in the 1/8 was a 7.04@98MPH with a 1.41 60'.That was also with 3.23 gears. So any thought's and suggestions on a great cam grind either off the shelf or custom would be appreciated.BTW on a 150 shot the car made 468.4RWHP and 581.7RWTQ.It basically picked up 100RWHP on a 150 shot.

take your dyno #'s with a grain of salt,,,big stall auto's on slicks never dyno well. Your track times are showing you are making power.
My 246/254 .613/.590 112 12.2:1 396 only dyno's 390whp NA, 510whp on a 150 shot, and 530whp on 200.
But she runs better than the # would lead you to believe.
The 7.04 is that NA or on the jug

if i were you i would just let my track numbers do the talking. there are folks dynoing way more and going down the track way slower. your making the power i am through an auto, i have the same cam in my 383. i have stock heads barely ported and i make 370/370 through a 6 speed so you are not in bad shape. i think if you are looking to get over that 400 mark maybe look into some new heads. who did your heads?

Dont get me wrong I am happy with the times. It is just that the car was built back in 2002. I thought there would be something better in the way of a cam to pick the car up a little since that was 6 years ago.

Call up a sponsor and get a custom cam designed for your setup if you want the most power.

If you are asking whether you can make more power with a different cam, I would have to say yes. The 306 is really kind of a small cam for a 383. People have had good results with it, but I don't think its the best by any means.

you could probably switch cams and pick up a little....but the big thing to me is the 3.23 gear...if you run strictly 1/8 mile I would think you want alot more gear.
I am running 3.73's and a 27" tire...I am barely into 3rd by the 1/8 mile on motor.
4.10's and a 28" might work pretty good for you and still let you run 1/4 mile if needed.

Not sure about the weight. The only weght savings I have are no PS or AC. It has a TH350 and drag lites. But it also has BMR subframe connectors so that adds a little weight too.
