Wife is letting me keep the Z28!! So...
I have a race built 4l60e trans that i have held off on putting in until i got the final ok. Now that i can keep my car, whats a good convertor that works well with a stock engine with bolt on and maybe a mild cam in the future? Brand and stall speed? Not a daily driver and is mostly a street/strip car. Guessing on 3.73s for gears but i was in a Z28 with 4.10s/auto and it pulled really hard, so not sure there. What do you guys suggest?

any future intentions of a cam/heads? 2800-3600 would probably be a decent range to choose from. yank and vig. are top of the line converters, but ive had really good luck with my fuddle racing 3400 stall. im going to however get it restalled to 4000 or 4200. i wouldnt recommend 4:10's as a gear for a auto if you see and street/highway driving. yea its fun when your diggin out of the hole, but cruising, it sucks. its almost borderline rediculous with the 3:73' i have in my car now.

I like Edge, but Yank and Vigilante are both very good converters too. Just don't buy anything cheaper than Edge. Edge is cheaper than the other two listed because they lack the billet cover which is pretty much overkill anyway.
Once you get cheaper than Edge like Fuddle, TCI, and Midwest results become inconsistent and a TC failure could cost you your new tranny.
Just to be clear, I think all of us serious about performance are going to talk strictly about 9.5" converters 2800+ stall. If you like 4.10s I would say consider about a 3200 stall maybe as high as 3600, with deep gears it will drive well.

Think in the future and figure out if you had any intentions of going with a big cam, if you are go a little higher on your stall to save you some money down the road.
You could always just trade for my th350 - i have two stalls so you can have the best of both worlds!

If you want too see if you will like the 4.10s stop using OD for a week. With the b-bodies and the 3.08 ratio in the Impala going to 4.10s is almost exactly the same as uding drive instead of overdrive.
I lie the 3.73s well enough now that the car is a fair weather driver and toy, still sees a good 8K miles a year, but when it was my only car and saw 20K+ a year I like 3.42s better.

Not bashing you 96cap, but Frank at CPT said Edge is one of the worst converters to put in a car. I remember you saying about how u liked ur converter, and asked him, he didnt have anything good to say about them when I was looking for one. He said Fuddle, Yank, Vig. or Pro Torque converters are the ones he recommends to all his customers. Everything is prone to failure, no matter who its made by....just something you have to accept when your dealing with something mechanical.

Was over 4 years ago when I first used an Edge 2800 stall and the car saw 20K miles a year, and a year and a half ago I bought the current one a 3400, car has lifted the drivers front tire a few inches.
Mine is not the only 11 second b-body using them, can't be all bad.
Like I said though Yank and Vig are both very good.

Which is very impressive....we all speak from personal expeirence...Uve had goodluck with urs, as I have had with my Fuddle...If i were to do it all over again, a Yank would be in my car because they dont as much of a bad rap as the Fuddle converters do.

I've got about 20k miles on a 3200 Vig, and I like it a lot. 1.6 60ft times on a 315 nitto DR, and it drives almost like a stock converter when you have your foot out of it.
