get a datalogger and tuning software. these are crucial to getting the lt1 running right. if your serious about making a performer out of you car make sure you have those two things.

They leak like a bitch and the most common spot seems to be the back of the intake manifold and as you already know the opti is quite sensitive.

Rear main seal is a problem on a lot of cars if not done properly.

yep my rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and about everywhere holding oil seems to leak just a little, but i only have to add about a half a quart between changes... but i just did an opti swap and it wasn't fun... just a word to the wise, make sure and mark on the block, spline, and back of the opti all of where the shaft goes because if not, you are pretty well screwed because that shaft feels like it can go in any way, although it only really does go in one way... so be careful on that... also, make sure the oil pressure is good because i have heard of tons of oil pressure problems, like where the pressure surges at WOT and just does crazy stuff like that...but other than the known problems, they seem to be good cars

i dont know... a forged 24-valve still sounds superior to me... it can handle quite a bit of stress and boost, if needed, too. the LT1 is a great motor; don't get me wrong. but, it just still seems a little outdated compared to a modular, forged, DOHC motor... now, an LS1, on the other hand, is a different story...
