I run PS LT's, ORY into an SLP shotgun resonator. Nothing after the resonator, let me tell you, it is LOUD. This car is 95% strip car only hits the streets occasionally. If it was a street only car i would definitely change this set up its that loud.

An X pipe equalizes pressure per sides before the mufflers and allows the system to be more efficient by doing this. If you had very unrestrictive mufflers like bullets the advantage would not be as large as it would with more restrictive muffs.

I drove my car once with a completely stock exhaust (manifolds, cats, I pipe) with the muffler off. It was absolutely unbearably loud. And not in a good way either, it sounded like crap. I could never drive a car like that on a daily basis. I barely made it two miles from the shop to my house without getting pulled over. A nice free flowing muffler or catback like Magnaflow will not rob much power if any, will sound a zillion times better, and keep you out of trouble, especially on a daily driver or frequently street driven car.

I've heard Loudmouth exhausts in person, and despite having no real muffler in them they are not as loud as you might think, and they do sound better than my car did with no muffler. But between Loudmouth and Magnaflow I'd take the Magnaflow any day. Hooker too.

My buddy has a '98 SS with shorties, catted Y, and no muffler. It's extremely loud and actually sounds very good. I don't think I'd try it without cats though.

My 94 is running shorties and a magnaflow. It sounds amazing. Formula413 you may remember what it sounded like when I was in Connecticut at some of the cruises on the Berlin TP. The Magnaflow is fairly quite until 2800-3000. I've gotten many compliments on it.

Default straight pipe

Im running a 3 inch straight pipe directly from the turbo and it sounds really good, no cat, muffler or resonators of any kind, you can hear the turbo spooling up too so its pretty cool.

My buddy's Cummins is like that, but what you hear is the turbo's intake, not it spooling from the exhaust lol I've driven in front of him when it punches it. Inside my car, windows up, music on a lower setting and it's STILL loud! Inside it's pretty loud too.

I had my old Burban with no exhaust after the Y (no cat) and it sounded horrible lol Cat wouldn't help tone it down much either. Just get a Magnaflow roundie and that'll help some. I had basically that, but over the axle into that and dumped. It sounded like NASCAR lol Was my DD and I put up with it for about 5 months till I got a flowie. I love my current exhaust. I'd remove the cat, but it'd change the tone and I don't want that heh
