Default WOW wtf. I just got beat by a freaking 300c ??

ok hey guys my buddy has a heritage edition 300c with the 5.7 hemi in it and we've been wanting to race for awhile now (my mods in sig) his car is bone stock ( apparently 360bhp) and we've been kinda givin each other **** about it joking around, I THOUGHT i should have EASILY had this one in the bag.. WOW i was dead wrong. ok first race we line up from a dig from his count 3 beeps, we take off and I spin like crazy through about 3rd gear and expect to start walking by him but no.. he kept dead even about 2-3 car lengths ahead of me.. I couldn't believe it.. so we lined them up again and I do nothing but burned the crap out of my clutch smoke was everywhere, smelled like burning clutch, and i bounced off the rev limiter 2 or 3 times (set at 6500) and scared the **** out of myself needless to say I lost again even worse..... but my car was still driveable somehow so i drove it home and it ran perfect like nothing ever happened and the clutch was fine.. ughh
so can you guys give me some insight as to why I lost and what I can do.. or is my car just a dog *** lt1 lol...

How about a godawful launch? If you take the launch out of the equation you end up having similar hp numbers... Same hp = same top end. If he got the jump basically he can keep ahead of you.

I've not been able to pull on a silverado before. It's pathetic. But had I gotten to line up with him instead of trying to catch him when he started WAY WAY WAY before me it would have been a blow out with me destroying him.

Sounds like you need to go from a roll. Secondly, you also need to get some stickier tires and last you better start looking for a clutch.

Get your technique down, it sounds like you spent too much time spinning from the adrenaline rush etc. I think if you can stay focused and concentrate on how your car runs then you can beat him; does that 300c have traction control ?

i caught one of these on a the highway not too long ago. i outran him, but i must say... for a family car, that is a stout car. i was sure damn suprised he hung like he did. off the bottle, i pulled between 1 to 1.5 cars on him. (but that was a ricer roll) not to mention they aren't slacking in the appearance dept. with your said mods, it was the driver... try again but dont lay in the throttle so hard when they are spinning. you'll get the hang of it

Like said, you will never get anywhere smokin the tires, put some stickies on it & try again, i'll bet you smoke him, i myself have a race with my boss, he has a bone stock 05 or 06 Subaru with a Turbo, but its the tamer version, he THINKS he can beat me HAHA, but i WILL NOT race him with my crap-*** tires, i'll wait till i get some stickies, then lauch at 5000 & be GONE, he won't know what happen, but i now have a rearend that can handle that kind of **** LOL, with the Parts your running, it should be a "no brainer" who could win, you just need to get that power to the pavement & keep it there, you'll stomp his ***. Don't get me wrong, i love my Mopars, loved them for years, but if your going to let a stock luxury car kick your but, fool you LOL JK

Even though it sounds like mostly driver error, some suspension mods would help you out more than you think. Putting the power you have to the ground will result in more wins than adding more hp.

They're actually rated as a real low 14 second car. And I believe it after riding in my buddy's mom's 300C. As for giving a cammed LT1 a run for it's money though, I don't really see that happening.

sometimes the faster car doesn't win. especially when you have sh!tty tires and don't massage the throttle the right way. how many races have we all seen lost because of tire spin. a bunch. some sticky tires and a lil throttle finesse will get you the win. i bet your buddy is smug as hell now that he beat you.

Your average 4 door sedan is packing 265+hp anymore. Not to mention all these Hemi equipped vehicles, or the crazy Euro sedans/wagons. Now you gotta worry about a lot more vehicles than just the usual suspects.

Traction, traction, traction! I'm guilty in this department. I won't lie, I did a ricer roll once to prove to a Subaru I could get him. Damn AWD, always got me from a dig, I got him to do a roll race and I was ahead two cars.

So try him from a roll, even though people on here will give you hell for it. Not everyone has the cash for a 12 bolt or better and sticky tires.

Yeah, i remember i raced a friend of mine in a Dart i had, he had a charger, both where 440s, i blew him away by 10+ cars from a dead stop, i was grinnin from ear too ear, but he said "i just spun, lets do it again", i'm like, man theres no way you spun that much, he & others said, yes he did, SO, to amuse him, we lined up again, he feathered it so not to go up in smoke, i was like WTF, he was already a car ahead of me, needless to say, he won by 2-2.1/2 cars, funkin pissed me off, i went home , man was i a fool, i parked it & ripped the engine out (that day) & started building .

Traction is win or loose, by how much, you never know, but i will say, if you where spinning through 3rd. & only lost by a car, get that car of yours to hook, it won't even be a race, you'll kick his azz.

Quick Reply: WOW wtf. I just got beat by a freaking 300c ??
