Default Do i need a MSD or Mallory box.

Ok so i did a little research on the subject and can't seem to make up my mind. My setup up is LE2 heads and cam on a fresh 355 with around 11.4 compression. I will be spraying but no bigger than a 150, most of the time just a 100 when i need it. What do you guys think? And if so what kind do you guys like the most?

I'm using a Digital 6 plus, that way when you arm your nitrous you can pull some timing out.

On a somewhat related note, those of you who run ignition boxes:

Is there a slight delay in cranking your engine versus without the ignition box?

My LT1 took a few more revolutions cranking before my engine would start. (Note: my ignition box was not MSD or Mallory).

i had an msd6al on my old trans am and it was a simple plug and play deal with the matching wiring harness.. msd makes some harness that allow you to plug in between the coil and they give you the correct color codes for hooking them up. then you just run you power and ground wires and you are set .... at least with an msd anyways

If you are wanting an ALL-in-one box go with the Mallory 685 as it includes the timing retard, 2-step, and a window switch.

If you are wanting a different window switch/nitrous controller I would use the MSD Digital 6. It is a smaller box which gives you more options for mounting.

I am running the Digital 6 on my 94...the MSD retards the timing during cranking which makes it easier for the car to start

From what I've read on here from a few folks, is that the higher energy being put through the opti, has a tendency to shorten their life span. Thoughts? Truth behind it?

Never seen this problem personally, only occasionally on here (but usually its something else, not the box). The MSD billet opti claims to be built with the MSD box in mind, so we will see when I put one on
