Default Who sells a built T56 with NO core?!?

I'd really like to buy a built T56 from someone, but every place i see on here just does rebuilds! I'm converting from auto so I have no core and getting a used T56 to send in for rebuild is a PITA not to mention double shipping.... Any help?

..and you aren't a sponsor.

We can source a core for you - our core charge is $1000 and must be paid up front. Once a core is sourced, we'll rebuild it, charge your card for the remaining balance, and ship it anywhere in the continental USA. Time frames are tough to estimate since finding a core is tough to do lately, but we'll work ASAP for you.

Anyone you buy a built unit from will have a core charge included . That can range from $500.00 to $1000.00 depending on the company .

1K for a core is asinine!!! You know people, it's just a transmission. I'm sick of the six speed tax. Just because it's a T56 people want to charge 4 times more than it's worth. This trickles all the way down to the manufactured parts in them. It's like a big dick club, if you can't spend 3 grand on a trans you can't have a 6-speed manual. These things didn't cost GM anymore to purchase than a 4l60e or borg warner T5. Yet everyone thinks they're gold and charges accordingly.

Joey, 1K is a little much for a core... but price is determined by demand...

anyway, most places that build transmissions will sell you a unit outright, just a matter of how much the core charge will be.

Sourcing cores is a long, tedious process - those of you not willing to pay $1000 for one ready to go, please feel free to source your own and send it in for us to rebuild.

FWIW - if you can find a core for less than $1000 that doesn't need a gear, a bearing set, a 5/6 synchronizer or anything else not included in our rebuild kits - jump on it. The pricing on these things is just getting higher and higher.

Have you checked out our site?

$1000 for a core and $999 for our Level Two Rebuild gets you a T56 warranted up to 700ft/lbs of torque for a year. That's just over $2k shipped.

I see you're in the bayarea. There's a shop here in sacramento that does manual transmissions only...no autos, diffs, they dont even pull or install them. They built mine up and charge $250 if you bring them the parts (dosent matter if you need extra work like replacing gears) and the guys there have some of the best customer service I have ever delt with in any company ever. PM me if you want their number.

I have a perfect 02 Z06 T56 (m12) for 1K plus shipping. You are right about the vette tax...its crazy but people dont seem to want to let go of these things...hell I actually went with the lesser of the two...the mn6 cuz of the hp I will be pushing and I was suprised at what the M12's are commanding....
In my case if you want to drive it before you buy it...guess what..you can and its at a sponsors shop this very minute.

I got tired of being jerked around looking for a used one from people here. So I actually ordered my D&D built trans yesterday morning.

I completely agree.

Some people love to think it shouldn't cost that much but I'll tell yea, even if I blow this one, I would ask between 900-1k for it. Because for a cheap rebuild I could get 1500-1600 w/ shifter. Alot of demands for this trans beyond Fbodies.
