Default Speed Inc. - McLeod RST/RXT stocking distributor

We have added Mcleod RST and RXT to our regular stock after complete validation of the product. I've ran the clutch in my own GTO for 2,500 miles, very quiet, smooth, no chatter and holds the power. We ran the RXT in a 850rwhp C6 Z06.

The key to this clutch is a pressure plate that has 1900lbs of spring pressure, same pressure you would expect in a stock OE pressure plate. So you have a stock feeling pedal. Often a aggressive single disc will have 2500+lbs of spring pressure.

RST/RXT clutches discs are solid,no springs! discs have a marcel, the marcel is like wavey pieace of steel in middle of the clutch disc; a factory disc has this. What a marcel does for a clutch disc, adds a shock absorber, a dynamic resistance to the driveline. This gives you a smooth engagement.

The diameter of the RST/RXT is smaller at 9 11/16" the LS7 clutch is 11.5"
smaller diameter clutch assembly will allow your engine to accelerate quicker, while keeping its inertia.

What Clutch is for me? RST or RXT?

Recommend RST from factory power level (300hp) to 800hp

Recommend RXT for vehicle with power adder

RXT uses Miba ceramic lining increases capacity to 1,000hp

Let me know if you have any questions

Pricing
6912-07 RST clutch assembly $689.99
6932-07 RXT clutch assembly $899.99
460530 Billet steel flywheel $339.00
560530 Aluminum flywheel w/ steel insert $489.00

Fraser,

One more question...which flywheel do you run in your GTO?

Installed steel flywheel

If I did it over again, I would consider aluminum.

I'm assuming for the extra power to the wheels? I'll bet it drives nice around town with the steel flywheel though...I'm trying to figure out my next clutch is the only reason why I ask. My RPS unit weighed in at 37 lbs, and it can be a bit tricky to get the car moving, even with 4.11s out back, but I don't know if that is due to the heavier pressure plate and dual friction disk or the light weight of the clutch.

MeentSS02, Speed Inc. recently installed a Mcleod RST clutch w/ billet steel flywheel and a Tick Performance Adj. M/C. All I can say is that this clutch is amazing. It has excellent street manners and is alot more enjoyable to drive compared to my LS7 clutch. The RST's engagement is smooth as silk and solid as a rock when powershifting. I highly recomend this clutch to anyone looking for a setup that drives like or even better than stock and can hold a ton of power.

Funny you mention that, I was going to explain how I had a RPS 3+ clutch before. 2900lbs sprung pressure plate, car used to jerk around on the dyno alot, very heavy pedal.

I noticed with a lighter clutch it was easier to cruise at lower speed and easier to accelerate from cruising speed, only reason for wanting an Aluminum flywheel.

The engagement of RST is so smooth. I can really see this clutch becoming popular in the near future. One of our Techs here worked with Lee at Mcleod on testing RXT, 1070rwhp twin turbo SN95, lifted the tires on 2nd gear shift http://youtube.com/watch?v=3ErD-HUL9Hk

Glad to hear your results Darren, after completing install on your car it really came full circle to me how good of a clutch this is.

I've been rather adamant that any power adder car should have RXT, however for 550rwhp, RST should be fine, i'm running mine over 700rwhp with turbos.

Would recommend the RXT, reason being ceramic friction materials if slipped tend to not glaze the flywheel, they are able to recover themselves ok. We have run the RXT over 1,000RWHP, Pedal feels like stock

sorry I don't have weight of Textralia product

so I have to get a Flywheel if I buy this clutch or is it inclueded on the clutch set up?
how about re-building the clutch, what is the price of a rebuild and are they re-buildable at all?

Yes, the discs are rebuildable, we've typically had clutch discs relined for around $400, the pressure plate you would most likely replace, it is available separate.

over 1,000rwhp i'd really go with a borg and beck style McLeod street twin with miba linings.

we've had one up to 1172rwhp 3 years still holding up.

The transmission at that power level.... Gforce?

I'm really looking into that McLeod RST, can you use a stock flywheel with that set up?
