Default REVIEW: Textralia and Tick MC *PICS*

I just finished the install on my car. I bought a used Textralia clutch from a member on here(chuckylt1. Awesome guy to deal with btw!) and Tick's adjustable MC. I thought I would share my experience. Here is everything that was installed.

Used Tex. ~2K miles:

Tick MC and remote bleeder:

New slave and pilot bearing(not pictured):

The install wasn't too bad. I have Spohn solid motor mounts so it made getting the trans out a little tricky but nothing horrible. The pilot bearing didn't want to budge using GM's J tool. So I rented a blind hole puller set and bigger slide hammer from Auto Zone. 3 slams and it was out.

Broken J-Tool:

J-Tool on bottom. Auto Zone special on top. HAHA!

Thank you Auto Zone:

Trans with slave installed and remote bleeder:

The stock clutch disc looked brand new. It only has 18K miles on it with ~70 1/8th and 1/4 passes. The PP and flywheel on the other hand...

Used Tex loctited, bolted and torqued up.

Thought this was a cool picture:

Bleeder routed and tied down:

Wiring up my wideband while the interior is apart:

I used a mity-vac to bleed the clutch. It was extremely easy, one shot and I had a pedal. Fired her up and the clutch was way too low, quick spin of the rod and I got a pedal. It's slightly lower than the brake pedal. The pedal feels awesome! Stiffer than stock(which I think is very very soft) and catches pretty low which I like. Went for a short test drive to make sure everything was working well and just from that quick ride I can tell that the car shifts much smoother. The clutch grabs hard, I didn't beat on it very hard though.

Overall I am very happy with the parts I installed. The track will be the real proving ground but I'll have to wait alittle longer until that happens.

Big thanks to Chuck and Tick for the great deals.

You're very welcome and thank you for the business. Can't wait to hear your impressions after you romp on it a few times!

Very nice. Can't wait to hear the track results! I've got a Tick MC and remote bleeder on the way to compliment my Textralia, so I'll be running the same setup.

I got one of the first Tick MCs that they made, and mine doesnt have that shroud like yours does... Joey, is there anyway I can get one of those things for mine? (remember when I bought one from you at the shootout, and you jumped my truck? lol!

I would've recommended to have that tex flywheel resurfaced. Looks like it was really heavily beat on for only 2K miles. I took mine off at 12K spirited miles, and didn't look anywhere that bad.

The clutch does have some track time on it, but the PP and flywheel didn't really need to be recut. Not sure how you can tell from that crappy picture haha. It looked nowhere near as bad as my stock clutch.

I could tell from the bluing of the metal and the fact that most of the friction surface was that way.

Got ya. I think the picture actually makes it looks worse than it is.

I'm sure you'll be fine! It was just a recommendation, and of course, since its installed now, I wouldn't bother either. Those clutches can take some serious abuse!

I took the car home last night and drove it about 20 miles. It is a blast to drive. The clutch pedal feels awesome and the Tex hooks! I am very happy with all the parts I installed.

I have a C5 Corvette with Textralia clutch, I put the Tick Master Cylinder in today, and my car is shifting GREAT. This a fantastic modification, worth every penny.

I figured I would post an update.

I've put about a total of 300 miles on this setup so far. It is so much fun to drive! I love the feel of the pedal and shifts are still smooth and strong.

I installed a tick adj. MC about a month or two ago. I like it. But almost every time I get on it, the pedal moves closer to the floor. Then I go to pull up on it with my hand and it comes back up to where it was before. Not to hijack but any clue what it might be.
