I use syncromesh also. It's not a street car though.

Either syncromesh type fluid or non synthetic Dextron/Mercon automatic transmission fluid.

Used Royal Purple in our built trans, and Mobil 1 in the non built unit.

the trans fluid debate can get as intense as the motor oil debate. im on the fence as far as pennz synchro or GM dex. ive read threads where people swear to NEVER use synchro, while in the next post someone has been thrashing a daily driver with synchro for 80k+ miles with no problem. i know road racers that have been using GM dex for years with no problems either.

i think, that unless you have a pure racecar making huge power, using GM dex is fine and safe. i would also guess that pennz synchro is also as safe? i think im just going to use dex when i get around to it.

I'd use any full synthetic meeting GM spec. Why - because the tranny will run cooler with the synthetic oil. Less heat = good.

You will notice a decrease of heat when going to a synthetic syncromesh like the Royal Purple SyncroMAX if there was a heat issue to begin with. Most people will notice absolutely nothing from switching.

My basic suggestions :

Street use : 4 qrts of non synthetic ATF
Drag race : 3 qrts of Synergen fluid with 1 qrt of ATF
Road race : 4 qrts of Royal Purple SyncroMAX fluid
