Default Reluctor Ring, and possibly Output shaft.

ive narrowed my speedo problem down to my reluctor ring but every dealership i go to cannot find one, or even know what im talking about? does anybody have any info on this? and while im doing that should i upgrade to a viper output shaft/reluctor ring? do i need to pull the trans to do an output shaft? i was told i can do the ring while it is still in the car.

any help would be greatly appreciated

You have to completely disassemble the trans and have the tailhousing modified along with a modified reluctor wheel when doing a Viper mainshaft conversion.

Could you see a Reluctor Ring in there when you took the Speed Sensor out?

does the car shift?
I don't think it will shift out of first without the OSS/VSS.
Hook up a scan tool and drive will watching the speed on the tool.
or pull the tail housing and check it out

How will it not shift out?

Is something restricting you from shifting it out of 1st gear?

it tells the pcm how fast the car is moving and when to command an upshift.
if it is not working the pcm doesn't know the car is moving. no upshift.
can verify if its a cluster issue or a sensor issue with a scan tool monitoring the data stream

The tone wheel is trapped between 2 snap rings on the maishaft. You can feel if its there with a finger through the speedo hole. If you trans has been worked on, one of the snap rins could have been out of position and the tone wheel has moved out of position. Since this is a non-contact device. it should not wear or break.

I think I did say: put a finger in the sensor hole( sensor removed) and feel for it.
