grinding in reverse
ok got no walk bushing in tailshaft. tailshaft went back on slick as a whistle no problems, but now doesnt seem like it goes in reverse all the way and when i back up seems like it wants to jump out of reverse, and it will grind unless i hold pressure on shifter any thoughts on this. car has 36k on it

It never had a Rev problem before? Only change was the yoke bushing? How was the transmission internals protected while you took the tailhousing off for the bushing R&R?
Sounds like the Reverse fork pads, synchro or bronze blocker ring has gotten compromised during the bushing work...

car was on hoist back of tranny was covered until tailshaft got back from machine shop from pressing bushing in and then went on with no trouble, could my pro 5.0 shifter be the problem it seems like you have to reach further now to get to reverse

reverse
Just to add my 2 cents worth. Mike is right, mike is always right!! the reverse gears are compromised. Same thing was happening on my 95, ended up replacing blocker, syncro, reverse gear. Basically everything but the fork.

Don't mean to hijack but I'm experiencing the same problems and also have trouble taking it out of reverse. does this mean the fork is on its way out? Sorry for the "noob" questions, I know my trans needs a rebuild and i'm gathering information at this point
