2 Gear Grinds Bad At Almost Every RPM and i have to slam it
well i just bought my 2000 ws6 6 speed and every gear works perfect but 2nd gear is really hard to get in i have to slam it really hard to get it in without grinding.
basically when it grinds it wont go into gear it will pretty much not let it in and i pressed the clutch in all the way. This occurred In low rpms i havent really got it to higher rpms yet(i just bought it yesterday). but i was just regularly driving around my streets and i would go from 1st to second and it would shift but once i let go of the clutch is has a really nasty and loud grinding noise.
but im guessing it's the synchros but my question is how much will it cost to replace that 2nd gear synchro??? i lost my job so i dont have that much money. but i keep hearing around like $250
im not somebody who really punches cars so im very calm.

Could be the synchro, the gear itself, or a combination of the teeth on both being rounded or worn down. You won't know until it's pulled apart and inspected, but the gear and synchro together cost around $260 plus shipping ($130 each). You might be able to find a better deal. If you can't rebuild it yourself, labor won't be too cheap. You might be better off saving up and sending the whole unit out to a place like Tick or another rebuild sponsor and having it pulled apart and inspected so that anything else that might be worn down can be replaced. Just because another gear isn't giving you problems yet doesn't mean it won't soon, and if you're already paying for a rebuild, you might as well replace anything that's beat up, maybe even upgrade a few parts.

and is it safe to drive it going from 1st to 3rd gear??
i really need to conserve the tranny as long as i can to save some money which will take me a while.
