Default where to get t56 speedo gear?

it cracked when the person doing my rebuild pressed it on. couldn't find one anywhere, so we RTV'd it on, but I'm not sure how long it will hold up, if it will hold up at all.

there's the crack and the RTV under it.

I figured since it's a magnetic setup and it doesn't touch anything, it won't fall off, but I worry... a lot.

Do you think it would hold?

Will someone sell me one cheap, if not?

Don't risk it. Leave it out if you have to drive the car and put one in later.

They are not expensive but I have seen many units come in with cracked ones and they worked just fine prior to the rebuild.

Who's lindsay ?

Your profile lists a Cadillac. Is this a CTS-v T56 VSS?

GM Part# 89059458

They are $23 online. I use them for the SSR 32-spline builds. But if you have a local machineshop contact, they should be able to hone the $8 Fbody wheel out to the CTS-v inference fit.

The F-body VSS wheel is splined on the ID, the CTSv is a smooth ID with an inference fit to the mainshaft.

I've never opened a TR6060 from a 2010 camaro, but I know some of the parts are reused from the late-model T56s and the TR6060 so it's possible. (They share the same shifter and tailhousing setup between the CTSv and TR6060 in the camaro)

All I can tell you is I've ordered a dozen of that part number in the past and a CTSv VSS wheel has always shown up..

I would wipe all the silicone off the top for sure before putting the tail housing on. You have a snap ring on the front and rear side of it. The shaft is splined and the vss is too. Where is it going to go? It has no pressure on it so there is no reason for it to come a part really other than some centrifical force from the shaft spinning.

I would change it if I was doing the build for a customer. If it was for myself, I'd probably take the chance on reusing it unless I could get one dirt cheap.

The CTSv wheel and shaft are not splined, they use an inference fit. (The SSR T56 does also, but that's another story)
